This role is a full-time position with a remote work setting, allowing you to provide invaluable mental health support to clients in the Galveston, Texas, area. Work EnvironmentAs a remote position, this role allows for flexibility while ensuring that our counselors remain connected with a collaborative team of mental health professionals. The community health clinic model we follow emphasizes accessibility and comprehensive care. We utilize electronic health records to streamline our processes, ensuring that all staff members have the resources they need to provide effective support.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct initial assessments, including preliminary interviews and detailed documentation of client cases from the first consultation through to the end of treatment.
- Evaluate clients’ mental, emotional, and behavioral health needs through structured interviews and psychometric assessments.
- Design and implement tailored treatment plans that address the unique challenges faced by individuals, couples, families, and groups.
- Facilitate individual therapy sessions and structured group therapy interventions to foster healing and community among clients.
- Regularly monitor client progress toward treatment goals and adjust plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Collaborate closely with other healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists, nurses, and social workers, to coordinate client care comprehensively.
- Maintain effective communication with secondary healthcare providers and follow up on referrals to ensure continuity of care for clients transitioning from inpatient to outpatient settings.
- Identify, manage, and mitigate behaviors that may hinder recovery, providing clients with the tools they need to overcome challenges.
- Offer guidance and support to family members and primary caregivers dealing with mental and behavioral health issues.
This position is centered around a diverse client base, which includes individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, and addiction, among other mental health challenges. Our goal is to create a welcoming space where clients feel safe and understood, enabling them to work toward recovery and wellness.
Qualifications- Master's or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
- A current and valid license as an LMFT, LPC, or LCSW in the state of Texas.
- Successful completion of the National Counselor Examination (NCE) or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).
- A commitment to continued professional development and adherence to ethical standards within the mental health profession.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, allowing for effective interaction with clients and colleagues.
- Strong interpersonal skills, characterized by empathy and a nonjudgmental approach to client care.
- A minimum of two years of experience working as a mental health counselor or in a related capacity within a community health setting.
- Proficiency in utilizing electronic health record systems, preferably AVATAR or similar platforms.
- Experience working with clients facing complex co-occurring conditions, including physical health issues and substance use disorders.
- Familiarity with the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) best practices and standards for care.
- In-depth understanding of psychopharmacology and the therapeutic effects of medications prescribed by medical professionals.
