Psychometric Rater – Clinical Research

Houston, TX | Onsite 5 Days/Week | Full-Time

We are conducting a confidential search for an established clinical research organization seeking an experienced Psychometric Rater to join its Houston research team.

A leading clinical trial site network seeking a Clinician – Rater (Psychologist or Mental Health Professional) to support cutting-edge psychiatry and neurology clinical trials.

This role is ideal for Psychologists, LMHCs, LCSWs, Neuropsych professionals, or other Mental Health Clinicians who enjoy structured patient assessments, diagnostic interviewing, and working within complex CNS populations.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct structured clinical interviews & diagnostic assessments
• Administer standardized rating scales (e.g., across depression, schizophrenia, Alzheimer’s, etc.)
• Perform neuropsychological evaluations
• Support patient eligibility & pre-screening activities

This is not a basic screening-only role.

The team is specifically looking for clinicians who have experience with — or exposure to — interview-based assessments requiring real-time clinical judgment and diagnostic thinking.

Examples may include:

• MoCA
• MMSE
• PANSS
• Structured psychiatric interviews
• Diagnostic evaluations
• Complex symptom assessments

The role requires someone comfortable:

• Conducting nuanced patient interviews
• Probing beyond surface-level answers
• Assessing symptom severity using clinical judgment
• Working within highly structured research protocols
• Operating in a fast-paced, patient-facing environment

Qualifications

• Background in Psychology, Psychiatry, or related mental health field
• Experience with psychiatric or neurological populations (Alzheimer’s experience is a plus)
• Strong clinical assessment skills
• Research experience is a plus

What You'll Be Doing

• Administer and score psychiatric and clinical rating scales for clinical trial participants
• Conduct structured participant interviews and clinical assessments
• Review study protocols and become familiar with all rating requirements before study initiation
• Work with Principal Investigators and Site Directors to clarify assessment and protocol requirements
• Participate in rater training and maintain proficiency with study-specific assessment tools
• Coordinate with study teams and sponsors regarding rating requirements
• Collect demographic, medical, psychiatric, and medication history during participant prescreening
• Assist with determining participant eligibility for clinical trials
• Obtain and document informed consent during prescreening
• Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential study documentation
• Support participant recruitment activities as needed
• Follow Good Clinical Practice (GCP), FDA requirements, study protocols, and internal SOPs

What We're Looking For

• At least 1 year of hands-on clinical/psychometric rater experience
• Bachelor's degree, RN, or Master's degree required
• Master's degree in Psychology or a related field strongly preferred
• PhD/PsyD preferred
• Experience administering and scoring psychiatric or clinical rating scales
• Clinical research or clinical trial experience
• Strong understanding of research protocols and GCP
• Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities
• Comfortable interacting directly with clinical trial participants
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with a multidisciplinary research team
• Must be comfortable working onsite in Houston five days per week
