Position at Community Options, Inc.
Community Options, Inc. is a national non-profit agency providing services to individuals with disabilities in 12 states.
We are currently seeking a Director of Positive Options in Utah. The Assistant Director of Positive Options uses best practices and technology within a community-based setting to teach people with developmental disabilities how to acquire the physical, intellectual, emotional, and social skills needed to live as independently as possible. This individual must be able to handle the pressure of training in a public environment, exercise patience, work with flexible schedules, and respond to crisis situations. Ingenuity and creativity must be utilized when determining the best training methods, assistance, and support for an individual.
Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee duties of state and regional behavioral support teams
  • Recruit, train, and mentor new behavioral support staff
  • Conduct training on best practices in positive supports
  • Provide supervision to staff pursing BCBA and BCaBA certification
  • Provide supervision to RBTs (registered behavioral technicians)
  • One on one observation and interaction with individuals
  • Attend at staff meetings for various locations
  • Complete functional assessments for identified individuals
  • Create prevention plans and support plans as needed
  • Training of staff on implementation of plans
  • Participate in Circle(s) of Support for personal future planning
  • Prepare progress reports for consumer's immediate support group, including their family
    and/or guardian, staff, employment specialist, case manager, and other professionals
  • Attend conferences, seminars, and training as assigned by the Chief Impact Officer
  • All other duties as assigned
  • Employee must cooperate with the license and department staff in any inspection, inquiry, or
    investigation
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of checks of criminal background,
    central registry, child abuse registry, and drug testing

Minimum Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Master's degree in behavioral analysis, psychology, or related field
  • Minimum 1 year experience in the development and implementation of behavioral support
    plan
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
  • First aid, CPR, OSHA, and Medication Certification course within first 90 days of employment,
    and any required residential or state training
  • Community Options' Gentle Teaching Training
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
  • Knowledge of positive behavioral supports
  • Ability to conduct behavioral assessments/functional analysis
  • Knowledge about data collection and measurement techniques
  • Ability to exercise good judgement and use common sense
  • Knowledge and understanding of local regulatory agency operations
  • Display understanding and commitment to community-based support for persons with
    disabilities
  • Flexibility to deal with people at a variety of levels, both internally and externally
  • Ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form
  • Excellent time management skills
