What you will do
We are seeking a highly motivated Investment Associate to join our Asset Based Finance (ABF) investment team. The Associate will support senior investment professionals across the origination, underwriting, structuring, execution, and portfolio management of private credit investments. This individual will work closely with deal leaders to evaluate opportunities, conduct credit analysis, structure transactions, coordinate execution processes, and present investment recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
This position follows a hybrid work model, with working 3 days in the Newark, NJ office and 2 days remote.
What you can expect
  • Perform detailed credit analysis of borrowers, collateral pools, transaction structures, and counterparties.
  • Build and/or maintain financial models, cash flow analyses, stress scenarios, and sensitivity analyses.
  • Conduct industry and market research to support investment decisions.
  • Assist in developing investment theses and recommendations.
  • Support deal leaders in structuring private credit and asset-based finance transactions.
  • Coordinate execution workstreams across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage transaction timelines, deliverables, and closing processes to ensure efficient execution.
  • Prepare investment memoranda, underwriting materials, and presentation decks for internal approval processes.
  • Present transaction analyses and recommendations to investment committees and senior management.

What you will bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field; advanced degree (MBA) or progress toward CFA is a plus
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in private credit, leveraged finance, structured credit, investment banking, or related investing roles
  • Strong credit underwriting skills with experience analyzing corporate borrowers, structured transactions, and/or asset-backed portfolios
  • Demonstrated experience building and interpreting financial models, including cash flow analysis, scenario modeling, and downside stress cases
  • Familiarity with private credit transaction structures and documentation; exposure to asset-based finance or securitized products is a plus
  • Ability to evaluate complex deal structures, collateral pools, and legal frameworks with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple transactions and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of intellectual curiosity, strong analytical mindset, and proactive problem-solving approach
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to work effectively across internal teams and external partners

Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The annual base salary range for this role is from $120,000 to $135,000. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills. This role is also eligible for additional
compensation and/or benefits. Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
