Job Summary:

In this role, the engineer contributes to the full systems engineering lifecycle by developing scalable, high-quality solutions for customer premises equipment (CPE) activation. Responsibilities include assisting in the design, deployment, and upkeep of carrier-grade provisioning systems, operations applications, and the databases and operating systems that support them. Furthermore, the individual acts as the Application Administrator for the operations, provisioning, and CPE activation platforms that underpin the infrastructure for all of Breezeline and Cogeco.

Overseeing the regional provisioning landscape, the Provisioning Engineer manages, maintains, and continuously monitors HSD provisioning systems, including associated PON and HSD service platforms. This specialist role requires a deep understanding of Cable TV infrastructure, HSD environments, and network troubleshooting, alongside proficiency in protocols like DOCSIS, DHCP, and TFTP. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously while applying superior troubleshooting expertise to ensure system reliability.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Installs, administers, configures and maintains CPE activation, provisioning, and operations applications including operating systems and related software

  • Provides 'on call' support to resolve CPE activation, provisioning, and operations application issues after normal business hours

  • Monitor and manage full stack Incognito provisioning

  • Monitor and manage Cisco PNR, RDU DOCSIS provisioning

  • Monitor and manage regional IP assignment and usage as related to HSD services

  • Proactively anticipate service needs and changes and react accordingly

  • Work with other team members to provide support and backup

  • Assist with the development, analysis, configuration, and implementation of service changes

  • Project planning, including cost analysis and timeline estimates

  • Working with other regional teams such as TechOps, TAC, ASG and BSG in troubleshooting one-off and regional service issues

  • Working with other regional engineers in testing of new products and services

  • Work with vendors and other third-parties as necessary for product support and integration

  • Participate in future technology direction discussions leveraging experience and active research

  • Documentation of systems and application design and configuration

  • Participate in off-hours maintenance as necessary

Job Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years in the Cable/MSO environment or similar industry

  • Good understanding of DOCSIS, IP Video, and Packet Cable

  • Understanding of eMTA, cable modems and ONT/ONU operations

  • Knowledge of control platforms (DAC, CMTS, OLT, vCMTS)

  • Good understanding of IP4 and IP6

  • Strong knowledge of troubleshooting tools (i.e tcpdump, netstat, iostat, traceroute, snoop)

  • Solid understanding of LAN/WAN topology, network protocols (TCP/IP, FTP, NFS), switches, firewalls, and load balancers

  • Comprehension of the DHCP, DNS, SNMP, and TFTP protocols

  • Strong working experience with DOCSIS provisioning

  • Understanding of Cable RF infrastructure, specifically how this relates to DOCSIS

  • Understanding of network connectivity and troubleshooting

  • Availability to resolve urgent provisioning environment problems outside of business hours

  • Clear and effective communication skills, both written and spoken

  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

  • Exceptional troubleshooting, analytical and technical aptitude

  • Great organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills

  • Experience working in a fast paced Agile environment

For candidates whose primary place of work will be in Massachusetts, the expected salary range for this specific position is $85,600 - $128,400. For candidates whose primary place of work will be in Maryland, the expected salary range for this specific position is $85,600- $128,400. For candidates whose primary place of work will be in Cleveland, OH, the expected salary range for this specific position is $77,800-116,800.
