Field Engineering Representative
Military Vehicle Test & Evaluation

We are seeking a Field Engineering Representative (FER) to support U.S. Army Developmental Test (DT), Operational Test (OT), and contractor testing activities for advanced military ground combat vehicle programs including Abrams, Stryker, Booker, and XM-30 platforms. This role requires expertise in military vehicle maintenance, field diagnostics, systems troubleshooting, test support, reliability engineering, and integration of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, software, and weapons systems while supporting test operations at military proving grounds across the United States.
Responsibilities:
  • Support Developmental Test (DT), Operational Test (OT), and contractor test activities for military tracked and wheeled combat vehicle platforms.
  • Provide field engineering support for Abrams, Stryker, Booker, XM-30, and related vehicle systems.
  • Perform platform-level troubleshooting and fault isolation involving software, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, fire control, and weapons systems.
  • Diagnose hardware and software failures and implement corrective actions to maximize vehicle availability during test events.
  • Utilize technical documentation including Teamcenter, Technical Manuals (TMs), Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs), engineering drawings, electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, pneumatic drawings, BOMs, EBOMs, ECOs, C-Mod documentation, GDV, and operational sheets.
  • Interface directly with engineering teams including Reliability, Safety, Systems, and Subsystems Engineering to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Support vehicle configuration management, hardware integration, engineering changes, modifications, and ECO implementation activities.
  • Conduct field diagnostics, root cause investigations, corrective action development, and failure analysis activities.
  • Generate and maintain Engineering Logs, daily test reports, technical documentation, and Universal Incident Reports (UIRs).
  • Submit Field Problem Reports and UIRs for identified hardware and software deficiencies.
  • Support test directors, military personnel, mechanics, operators, data collectors, and vehicle crews during scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities.
  • Provide technical training, mentoring, and subject matter expertise to fielding teams and government test personnel.
  • Coordinate with customers and engineering organizations to define, document, analyze, perform, and interpret test activities.
  • Support aggressive testing schedules while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and program requirements.
  • Travel extensively to military installations, proving grounds, and customer locations to support testing operations.

Qualifications:
  • U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
  • Active Secret Security Clearance (or NACI) required.
  • Must meet ASR requirements.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience operating and/or maintaining military tracked or wheeled vehicles.
  • Military vehicle maintenance experience preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of U.S. Government Developmental Test (DT), Operational Test (OT), or related military test experience, or an equivalent combination of military operational and test experience.
  • Experience troubleshooting military vehicle systems including electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, software, and fire control systems.
  • Experience performing field diagnostics, root cause analysis, corrective action development, and failure investigations.
  • Ability to write and submit technical Engineering Logs, test reports, Field Problem Reports, and Universal Incident Reports (UIRs).
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering, subsystem integration, reliability engineering, and vehicle configuration management principles.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience using engineering and configuration management systems such as Teamcenter, Vis Mockup, iads, EMSNG, or similar platforms.
  • Strong communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead, guide, and direct personnel with limited supervision.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to maintain driving privileges.
  • Ability to travel approximately 30%-50% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting Abrams, Stryker, Booker, XM-30, or similar military ground combat vehicle programs.
  • Experience supporting U.S. Army test organizations and proving ground operations.
  • Familiarity with vehicle integration, engineering change implementation, and configuration control processes.
  • Experience supporting reliability growth testing, vehicle modernization programs, and fielding activities.
  • Knowledge of military weapons systems, fire control systems, and combat vehicle electronics.
  • Experience working directly with government customers and military operational units.
