Job description

Direct Service Advocate

Are you ready to start a meaningful career that makes a direct impact caring for the residents of Adams County?

The Direct Service Advocate plays a critical role in providing support and resources to individuals facing challenging circumstances, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are met. This position involves direct interaction with clients of diverse backgrounds to assess their situations, offer guidance, and connect them with appropriate services and community resources. Through compassionate communication and crisis intervention, the advocate helps clients navigate through the criminal and juvenile justice system.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in counseling, criminal justice, or related field preferred.
  • A minimum of two years' experience handling a caseload involving clients experiencing crisis situations may be substituted for bachelor's degree.
  • Spanish/English bilingual skills a plus.
  • Must be willing to be fingerprinted.

Required Documentation: Cover letter, resume (if applying through a third party site, documents may need to be merged into one), and the online application including the profile portion of the Career Center.

Status: Full Time / 37.5 hrs per week, benefit eligible Compensation: $21.92 minimum to start. After a year of success in the position, the employee will become a Direct Service Advocate 2.

The mission of the Adams County Victim Witness Assistance Program is to meet the many needs of crime victims and their families by providing compassionate services and advocating for the fair and dignified treatment of crime victims as mandated in the Crime Victim's Rights Act.
