The Department of Pharmacy, consistent with the mission of Johns Hopkins Medicine, places a priority on teaching, research, and patient care.
The Operations Manager reports to the Division Director for Central Pharmacy and is responsible for leading and optimizing pharmacy operations that support safe and efficient medication-use processes across a large academic medical center. This role works collaboratively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure high-quality patient care, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance. The Operations Manager provides operational leadership for Central Pharmacy, including oversight of medication distribution workflows, automation systems, inventory management, controlled substance operations, sterile compounding, and frontline pharmacy staff. Additionally, the position partners closely with pharmacy leadership, nursing, anesthesia, and supply chain teams to implement strategic initiatives and improve operational performance
This role has primary responsibility for managing day-to-day pharmacy operations, supporting and developing pharmacists, technicians, and supervisors, and driving continuous improvement through data analytics, automation, and operational innovation. The Operations Manager is expected to lead multidisciplinary initiatives focused on medication safety, workflow optimization, regulatory readiness, employee engagement, and technology integration. Additional opportunities include committee leadership and participation, analytics and dashboard development, policy and procedure oversight, residency and student precepting, and collaboration on enterprise-wide operational and medication-use initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited College of Pharmacy resulting in Pharm D. or BS degree.
  • Minimum of one year of hospital experience with responsibility for the supervision of pharmacy personnel is desired.
  • Completion of an ASHP accredited residency program or equivalent experience is desired.
  • Current licensure as a pharmacist in the State of Maryland required.

Salary Range: Minimum $54.35/hour - Maximum $95.15/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
