Job description

The purpose of the Operations Supervisor is to handle all aspects of the day-to-day shift operation for the assigned site and ensuring all operational performance expectations for the facility are met and each shift is set up for success which will allow the building to meet the operation and profitability goals. The Operations Supervisor will directly supervise the work of Warehouse Associates, with authority to take actions and/or make recommendations that are given significant weight with respect to discipline, terminations, and other changes of a warehouse associates employment status, often requiring the exercise of discretion and independent judgment with respect to significant business matters.

Responsibilities

Assist General Manager to Ensure, Building Safety & Planning

  • Ensure all Safety documents are signed off on and all safety procedures are followed
  • All PPE are in place and used as instructed
  • Ensure lifts are signed out and inspected

Assist General Manager and Operations Manager to Ensure Labor Planning and Productivity Standard

  • Plan labor to follow production or customer needs
  • Utilize labor for VAS (value added services)
  • ⁠Remove excessive labor for profitability and efficiency
  • Track and train associates to maximize utilization
  • Assist in retention and turnover
  • Ensure daily shift KPIs are met

Work Closely with General Manager and Operations Manager to Support Staff Development by Cross Training/On-Job Training

  • Conduct daily start up meetings, present daily plan, and provide updates
  • Train, motivate and assist in the development and growth of employees
  • Implement and maintain continuous improvement program
  • Challenge employees to be more productive

Support and assist the General Manager and Operations Manager in Implementing Productivity Improvements

  • Study processes using Lean, Six Sigma, 5S Methodology to improve processes and eliminate waste
  • Improve processes when possible and implement them as new standards

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent problem solving and decision making skills
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering information
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to perform work in loud and high trafficked areas
  • Ability to maintain organization in detail and color-coded areas
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Software
  • Knowledge or ability to learn WMS (Warehouse Management Systems) and customer ERP as necessary
  • Ability to move around warehouse floor up to 70% of working hours to observe and coach for performance

Education/Experience

  • Diploma or GED Equivalency, required
  • 1 – 3 years of supervisory experience, required
  • Warehouse Leadership experience, preferred
  • Forklift experience, preferred
  • Food grade facility experience, a plus
  • HighJump WMS experience, a plus
  • SAP experience, a plus
  • RF Unit experience, preferred
