Job description

Packaging Engineering Manager

Currently seeking a hands-on Packaging Engineering Manager with experience in corrugate paper, wood, and foam transport packaging manufacturing. The Packaging Engineering Manager will provide a broad range of design expertise and technical skills to both our external clients and internal team. You will play a key role in our sales process by planning, managing, and monitoring design and estimating functions to ensure our company's success. The position is based in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and reports to the Director of Strategic Accounts.

We are primarily seeking local candidates within the DFW area to work from our Fort Worth, TX headquarters. Relocation assistance will be provided for qualified candidates relocating to the area.

$ Salary is open and will be commensurate with experience.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide a high level of technical and process leadership through mentoring, monitoring and leading RFQ project teams and answering technical requests from the sales department and customers.
  • Coordinate with Commercial and Operations Leaders to achieve excellence in execution of new business and existing customer projects.
  • Refine and lead the estimating function of the company.
  • Establish and drive best practices in the design and estimating process which includes sales, operations and purchasing.
  • Understand manufacturing facility capabilities to enable appropriate input to the Sales Stage Gate Process.
  • Represent the business as a highly knowledgeable leader in the field of transport packaging design. Liaise with clients and internal team members to deliver packaging solutions and enhance customer experience.
  • Guide and mentor team members in their day-to-day engineering responsibilities and professional and career development.
  • Lead recruiting and hiring efforts for new technical sales support roles as needed for company growth.
  • Create and maintain packaging engineering specifications and standards utilizing CAD, 3D modeling software and other tools.

    • Supervise design projects and Engineering team members.
    • Develop and improve department and company processes related to engineering and estimating.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor's Degree in Packaging Engineering or related field.
    • 5-10 years of experience in corrugate paper and/or wood transport packaging manufacturing.
    • Experience with wood pallets and crates, corrugate containers, and internal protective packaging fittings.
    • Proficiency with ArtiosCAD, SolidWorks, IronCAD, and related packaging CAD software.
    • Experience working directly with customers in a design, engineering, or project leadership capacity.
    • Strong communication, leadership, and collaboration skills.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing and engineering environment.v

This role is based out of a Conner Industries facility, with flexibility for remote work as needed.
