Salary:
The annual salary for this position ranges from $115,000 - $140,000 and varies based on specific responsibilities and geographic location. Starting annual salary within this range will be determined based on the candidate's experience, qualifications, and/or skillset.
Summary:
This role leads the creative and technical development of design projects from concept through production for the complete line of Engineered Solutions Products. This role oversees a team of designers, collaborates with sales and operations, ensures brand consistency, and drives innovative solutions that meet business objectives. The Design Manager is responsible for maintaining high design standards, managing workflow, and delivering projects on time and within scope.
Essential Functions:
  • The ability to link Signode's Value proposition to the customer's needs.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Signode's Engineered Solutions offerings.
  • Design packaging solutions for protecting products from damage in shipping.
  • Drive production of samples and prototypes to bring designs to life and ensure they meet quality standards.
  • Work with Manufacturing and Operations to collaborate on the ability to manufacture designs.
  • Ensure design accuracy by conducting rigorous measurements and testing procedures during sample production.
  • Conduct end user site visits to determine best packaging solution.
  • Site visits to train customer on how to implement the solution.
  • Key account headquarter visits to determine best-selling strategy.
  • Completion of customer site audits.
  • Prepare and present Executive Summary internally.
  • Identify opportunities for design innovation and process improvement.
  • Review, with the Sales Team, opportunities in the CRM to give priority to projects.
  • Assist Sales Team with Third Party Representatives' training to improve performance, learn products and practice sales techniques.
  • Manage life cycle of direct reports to include hiring, performance management, etc.
  • Participate in training and personal development activities offered by the organization.
  • Gain significant understanding of the assigned segment by participating in trade shows, meetings, and industry groups.
  • Understand any technical requirements, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Ability to mentor and coach new hires or those new to the organization.

Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Design, Industrial Design, Graphic Design, or related field preferred.
Experience:
  • 5+ years of industrial design. Engineering or Packaging Design experience highly desired. Leadership or managerial experience preferred.
  • Proven capabilities supporting sales to include multiple customer sites and applications.
  • Strong design and manufacturing aptitude.
  • Ability to use Catia, AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks, with general MS Office proficiency.
  • Basic understanding of line automation.
  • Ability to develop 2-D and 3-D models.
  • Strong technology skills with social media knowledge to drive current customers and prospect engagement.
