Job description

We are currently seeking a full-time Property Accountant to join our Accounting team.


This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated and detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys taking ownership of their work, solving problems, and collaborating with others. As a Property Accountant, you will be responsible for the financial reporting and accounting functions for a portfolio of condominium and residential properties while working closely with Property Managers, external auditors, and other members of our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete bank reconciliations and assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures
  • Prepare financial statements and various internal reports for Property Managers
  • Review and verify invoices and supporting documentation
  • Enter annual budgets into the accounting software system
  • Prepare balance sheets and account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
  • Coordinate the successful onboarding and integration of new properties into the accounting workflow
  • Provide financial guidance and support to Property Managers within your portfolio
  • Prepare and file quarterly government remittances
  • Assemble, merge and upload monthly financial statement packages to the company's online portal and electronic filing system
  • Manage the day-to-day accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of approximately 20-25 properties
  • Work directly with external auditors during annual audits
  • Meet multiple deadlines and maintain a high level of accuracy within a demanding environment
  • Collaborate with members of the Accounting and Property Management teams to support efficient and accurate financial operations

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related filed
  • Previous property accounting experience; condominium or property management industry experience is considered a strong asset
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and customer service abilities
  • Ability to prioritize competing deadlines and work independently
