Description
The Kentucky Department of Corrections (DOC), Division of Adult Institutions operates 13 correctionalfacilities that house Kentucky's adult inmate population. The mission of DOC is to protect the citizens of theCommonwealth and to provide a safe, secure and humane environment for staff and offenders in carrying out themandates of the legislative and judicial processes; and, to provide opportunities for offenders to acquireskills which facilitate non-criminal behavior.
The Property Officer Supervisor at Roederer Correctional Complex is responsible for supervising employeesinvolved in the inventory, control, and sale of property for the institution.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Supervises staff to include inmate staff involved in inventory, control, and sale of property for the institution.
  • Assigns, coordinates, and oversees the work of employees.
  • Plans and supervises the activities involved in the acquisition, receipt, control, and inventory of all property and supplies and maintains adequate inventories.
  • Accounts for property by physical inspection, tagging, or marking and data processing control.
  • Maintains an inventory of property location, value, transfer, sale or disposal.
  • Maintains surplus property, include providing acquisitions and disposal and relocating items for storage as needed.
  • Returns and tracks property that is defective upon arrival for repair or replacement.
  • Provides technical assistance to agency personnel and staff.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:High School Graduate
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:Four years of experience in the inventory, control, sales or disposal, or acquisition of property, or a related field.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:Additional education will substitute for the required experience up to two years.

Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
