The Pricing & Promotional Strategy Partner is a cross-functional role that helps shape Meijer's pricing and promotional strategy for assigned categories. This role partners with merchant teams and internal pricing partners to translate pricing strategy into clear category guidance, balancing base price and promotional investment to improve customer price perception, category performance, and financial results.
The role leads category deep dives, supports development of category Golden Rules, evaluates promotional effectiveness, and provides recommendations that align merchant decisions with Meijer's pricing objectives. Success requires strong analytical skills, commercial judgment, and the ability to influence cross-functional partners.
What You'll Be Doing:
  • Lead category deep dives to evaluate pricing, promotional effectiveness, and category performance, and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Partner with merchant teams and internal analysts to apply pricing frameworks, identify investment opportunities, and align category decisions with strategic pricing objectives.
  • Develop and maintain category Golden Rules, including base price, promotional cadence, and vendor funding expectations.
  • Support scenario planning and ongoing category monitoring to assess the impact of pricing and promotional decisions on AUR, margin, and competitive position.
  • Present insights and recommendations to cross-functional partners and influence decisions through clear, commercially grounded communication.
  • Contribute to annual reviews, testing strategies, and continuous improvement of pricing and promotional practices.

What You'll Bring With You:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Statistics, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in pricing, promotional analytics, category management, merchandising, buying, or a related retail or consumer goods role.
  • Strong analytical skills, including advanced Excel and experience with BI or visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Working knowledge of retail pricing concepts such as AUR, margin, elasticity, and promotional lift.
  • Ability to communicate complex findings clearly and influence cross-functional partners.
  • Preferred: experience working with merchant teams, promotional planning tools, vendor funding discussions, or pricing and category strategy in a retail environment.
