What you’ll need to succeed as a Project Manager, Technology at XPO

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, related work, or military experience 
  • 1 year of direct IT project management experience supporting infrastructure or operational technology environments
  • Experience managing multiple, concurrent projects in fast-paced, operationally sensitive environments
  • Experience coordinating vendor procurement and delivery of technology goods and services, including RFI/RFP support and vendor administration
  • Experience using Planview or a similar project tracking, reporting, and portfolio management tool
  • General understanding of infrastructure technologies, including networking, servers, end‑user devices, and telecom (hands‑on engineering not required)
  • Familiarity with Agile, hybrid, and waterfall project delivery methodologies
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with customers and senior leadership
  • Excellent facilitation, presentation, and active listening skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize competing priorities and deliver results on time
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working with onshore and offshore teams across multiple time zones
  • Solid business acumen with an understanding of business drivers and operational impacts
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality delivery

Preferred qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience as an IT Project Manager
  • 3+ years of enterprise IT infrastructure project management experience in logistics, transportation, warehousing, or industrial environments
  • Experience managing IT infrastructure initiatives such as network upgrades, site rollouts, data center projects, telecom, security, cloud, or hardware lifecycle replacements
  • Experience working in 24x7 operational environments with strict maintenance windows
  • Cross‑functional experience spanning technical project management, logistics or transportation operations, and IT solutions delivery
  • Proven vendor management and third‑party coordination experience
  • Direct experience managing medium‑to‑large projects (10+ resources over 9+ months) within a structured project management methodology
  • PMP, Agile, or ITIL certification
  • Experience using Jira and related project tracking or reporting tools

What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Be responsible for leading and delivering infrastructure‑focused IT projects that support critical logistics and transportation operations
  • Manage multiple, concurrent initiatives involving network, data center, end user computing, telecom, and operational technology environments to ensure reliable, secure, and scalable technology solutions 
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between IT Infrastructure teams, business operations, internal stakeholders, vendors, and external partners
  • Be accountable for project scope, schedule, budget, quality, communications, risk, and issue management, with a strong focus on minimizing operational impact in 24x7 logistics environments.
  • Lead the implementation and delivery of IT infrastructure projects, including network, telecom, data center, hardware lifecycle, and site-based technology initiatives
  • Coordinate planning, scoping, and execution of infrastructure upgrades, refreshes, and future releases to support terminal, service center, and logistics operations
  • Manage project resource coordination, task assignments, schedules, and status reporting in partnership with infrastructure engineers and resource managers
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation and provide clear verbal and written communication to IT leadership and operational stakeholders, including:
    • Project plans, schedules, and cost estimates
    • Cutover, rollback, and operational readiness plans
    • Risk and issue logs with mitigation strategies
    • Training, communication, and site readiness plans
    • Change management and approval documentation
    • Standardized project artifacts stored in SharePoint and OneNote
  • Act as liaison among cross-functional teams, including Operations, Network Engineering, Infrastructure, Information Security, Telecom, Finance, Legal, Facilities, Real Estate/Construction, and vendors
  • Organize and facilitate project meetings, technical walkthroughs, cutover calls, and operational readiness reviews to ensure successful execution
  • Proactively identify, manage, and resolve risks and issues that may impact business continuity, service availability, or project delivery
  • Make project-level decisions and recommendations within established governance frameworks, standards, and policies. Decisions may impact operational continuity, service availability, customer experience, and infrastructure reliability
