This role combines hands-on CQV knowledge with project leadership—owning validation execution, managing timelines, and ensuring systems are ready for GMP production.

Location: Sanford, NC — 100% onsite initially, with potential for hybrid flexibility later in the assignment

Employment Type: Contract — 1099/C2C eligible

Contract Duration: Starting ASAP and expected to run through at least April 2027, with the possibility of extension

This role is ideal for someone who has led commissioning activities in regulated life sciences environments and is comfortable working closely with engineering, construction, quality, validation, operations, vendors, and project stakeholders to keep commissioning work organized, compliant, and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of commissioning activities across utilities, process equipment, automation systems, HVAC, and facility infrastructure.
  • Develop commissioning strategies, plans, schedules, system boundaries, turnover packages, and resource needs in alignment with project scope and GMP expectations.
  • Coordinate with engineering, construction, quality, validation, operations, vendors, and contractors to support a smooth transition from construction through commissioning and into qualification.
  • Review, approve, and manage commissioning documentation, protocols, test scripts, reports, punch lists, issue logs, and turnover deliverables.
  • Identify risks, resolve commissioning issues, support change management, and escalate concerns that could impact schedule, safety, quality, or compliance.
  • Promote a strong site culture focused on safety, quality, accountability, and collaboration.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or a related technical discipline preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience supporting pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, or other regulated manufacturing facilities.
  • Hands-on experience leading commissioning efforts for GMP facility, utility, equipment, automation, or process systems.
  • Strong understanding of commissioning, qualification, validation, GMP requirements, turnover processes, and documentation expectations.
  • Ability to manage priorities, communicate clearly with stakeholders, and keep multiple commissioning workstreams moving in a fast-paced project environment.
