Job description

The Special Systems Assistant Project Manager will be assigned responsibilities by the lead project manager to include project components and customer interactions. This position will assume the responsibility and accountability for the execution of all project assignments as determined by the lead project manager and Alterman management. Tasks will be carried out at the lowest cost, safely, and at the highest quality consistent with contract requirements and good business practices.

Job Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Ability to effectively work with 5 key components: account management, project management, project planning, material procurement, and labor as directed by the lead project manager.
  • Work with the lead PM to identify "critical path activities" of the project, then assist in preparing documentation required to accomplish these activities and submit to lead project manager for final approval.
  • Assist with the coordination and preplanning of a project: review plans & specs. budgeting, job cost entry, scheduling, preparing project documents, monitor productivity, assist with job cost projections, contract interpretation, and attend project meetings when necessary. All under the direction of the lead PM.
  • Communicate information concerning operations to the lead project manager and other managers as directed so that all parties to have a full understanding of overall project operations.
  • Ensure that all duties of this position are carried out in compliance with Alterman’s stated mission, vision, values, safety standards, and company policies and procedures.
  • Assume additional tasks that are assigned by the lead project manager or which are logically inherent to this position and be willing to put in the effort that is necessary to ensure that job duties are performed completely and accurately.
  • Communicate effectively with Alterman personnel and especially the lead project manager to ensure expectations are being met and assigned duties are affectively achieved.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in a field supervisory position, a minimum of 5 years working and studying in the Teledata construction industry and a good working knowledge of Estimating and Field Engineering is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of Data Systems or Physical Security Systems, and BICSI Certification a plus.
  • Ability to read and understand plans and specifications to include blue prints, proposals, and other documents as they relate to Teledata work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work well with office and field staff.
  • Must be professional in appearance and possess a friendly demeanor with clients, vendors, and staff.
  • Proficient computer skills with all basic office programs (Word and Outlook) and the ability to learn and use related software and systems are required.Â
