Job Purpose

Working as a critical leader within a production team, support the achievement of set production targets and customer expectations by providing the appropriate level of leadership, supervision, and training/development to the people assigned within your shift and/or department, as well as the expected level of oversight to the equipment, systems, resources, and facilities under your control. Ensure those under your supervision are following standard operating procedures with continual focus to their personal safety and the safety of their co-workers, and the quality of product produced being the guiding principles of the teams’ behaviors and actions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. This is a 3rd shift role onsite in Springfield, MO.

  1. Provide the appropriate level of leadership, supervision, and training/development to the people assigned within your shift and/or department.
  2. Provide the expected level of oversight to the equipment, systems, resources, and facilities under your control. 
  3. Understand, and effectively communicate expected department targets, to include, but not limited to production, safety, quality, cost control and operational excellence levels (KPIs).  Monitoring as appropriate and providing instruction and counsel to employee(s) when expectations are not being met and provide recognition when set expectations are exceeded.
  4. Establishing work schedules and managing to planned and unplanned employee levels, providing hands-on coverage as needed, providing for, and making request of appropriate levels of support, supply and materials, and utilizing the manufacturing resource planning (MRP) systems to timely communicate production data.
  5. Be an active liaison to other departments/shifts to ensure proper transfer of information to production status and other key performance areas.  Establishing effective relationships and channels of communications to immediate and next level of production management, maintenance, supply chain management, EH&S, and HR.
  6. Ensure compliance, for yourself and all whom you may come into contact, in all safety, environment and health processes and procedures.  To include but not limited to wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE), maintaining, and safely storing PPE, and submitting to periodic personal testing and monitoring.
Qualifications

1. High School Diploma or GED equivalent, plus 2-year technical/associates degree or certification accompanied with no less than 1 year of work experience in a lead, project manager, or supervisory role. Or equivalent combination of education and experience. A bachelor’s degree in science, production management, business management, and/or engineering, with relevant work experience within a fast-paced heavy materials, system-controlled machine and process driven work environment is preferred.

2. A high level of self-motivation, the ability to coach others, and the agility and influence to effectively maintain the needed level of motivation within the team to achieve, if not exceed, performance expectations.

3. Ability to associate cause and affect relationships and determine patterns of activity in anticipation of change within operations, processes, systems, and personnel on a continual and consistent basis.

4. Displayed ability to do basic math – addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and calculating percentages – with a high degree of accuracy.

5. Fluent verbal and written skills in English. Strong communication skills, with ability to efficiently present a situation and effectively advocate for a position to any level of the organization.

6. Displayed ability to read and write for understanding, interpret instructions and standard operating procedures, work within software programs (such as but not limited to Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and business specific resource planning and reporting systems.

7. Ability to be qualified for safe and compliant use and maintenance of assigned and required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). To include a fit-tested respirator, steel-toed shoes, safety eye wear and hearing protection.
