Job description

MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Operations & Maintenance Project Manager Lead to join our team in Chantilly, VA. In this role, you will lead and coordinate operational and maintenance initiatives across IT environments, while providing leadership, guidance, and oversight to a team of Project Managers. You will oversee projects from planning through implementation and transition to steady-state operations, ensuring delivery against scope, schedule, quality, and organizational priorities.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead and mentor a team of Project Managers responsible for O&M IT projects, providing direction, coaching, training, and oversight to ensure consistent project delivery, governance, and performance.
  • Oversee the O&M project portfolio, ensuring Project Managers effectively manage schedules, milestones, dependencies, risks, issues, deliverables, and stakeholder communications across IT operations, applications, infrastructure, and business teams.
  • Drive standardized project-management practices and tools, including ServiceNow and ESP, while establishing consistent planning, reporting, RAID management, governance, and transition-to-O&M processes.
  • Partner with technical and operational leadership to resolve escalated issues, manage operational risks, facilitate key decisions, and ensure successful project execution and transition into steady-state O&M support.
  • Perform HR duties as assigned, including but not limited to: interviewing, hiring, career enablement, performance counseling, compensation planning, and requisition creation.
  • Lend expertise and institutional knowledge to improve the overall excellence of the team by supporting the creation of Knowledge Articles, Work Instructions and SOPs.
  • Support customer Key Performance Indicators (KPI) required of the program.
  • Local travel may be required between customer buildings or temporary assignment to an alternate location in support of special projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma with 11+ years of experience, an Associate’s Degree with 9+ years of experience, or a Bachelor’s Degree with 7+ years of experience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing IT projects in an operations and maintenance (O&M) environment.
  • Strong understanding of project-management methodologies, planning, governance, risk management, and stakeholder communication.
  • Working familiarity with ServiceNow and familiarity with ESP environments/processes.
  • Experience developing and maintaining project schedules, status reports, risk/issue logs, and project documentation.
  • Experience coordinating technical teams and multiple stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach or train other project managers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing a portfolio of O&M or IT infrastructure/application-support projects.
  • ServiceNow implementation, administration, or operational-process experience.
  • PMP, Scrum Master, ITIL, or comparable certification.
  • Experience supporting enterprise or government IT environments.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must have a current/active TS/SCI with Polygraph.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at least 50% of the time. Constantly operate a computer, phone, and other office equipment for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to move/traverse within and between buildings and offices, position self to maintain equipment and cabling, including under the desks, while moving floor tiles, and in server closets, some of which may be confined spaces.
  • On occasion with help, must be able to move Audio/Visual or Computer equipment weighing 50+ pounds, some equipment may require team-lift or the use of carts. Ascends/descends a ladder, 10+ feet high while pulling cables and adjusting equipment.
