Job description

Magna IV Engineering is seeking an experienced and motivated Technical Sales Manager to join our team in Calgary, Alberta.The Sales Manager will be responsible for developing and expanding Magna IV's presence throughout the Alberta market by building strong client relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and effectively communicating Magna IV's technical field services and engineering solutions.

The successful candidate will work closely with Operations, Project Management, Engineering, and Marketing teams to develop regional sales strategies, identify opportunities, prepare and negotiate proposals, and ultimately drive revenue growth. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically knowledgeable sales professional with established industry relationships and a strong understanding of electrical power systems to play a key role in growing Magna IV's business in Western Canada. Approximately 25% travel will be required for the role, primarily within the assigned territory and as required to meet with clients, attend industry events, and support business development activities.

Client Relationship Management & Business Development

  • Work with Operations Managers and the Director of Sales to develop and execute a regional sales strategy, with a focus on key market segments such as data centers, renewable energy, utilities, manufacturing, commercial, and industrial markets.
  • Identify, develop, and pursue new business opportunities with existing and prospective clients.
  • Leverage established industry relationships and professional networks to generate new leads and expand Magna IV's client base.
  • Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients by understanding their business needs and providing solutions that align with their technical and operational requirements.
  • Represent Magna IV Engineering professionally and effectively when interacting with clients, industry partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinate business development activities with Operations, Project Management, Engineering, and Marketing teams to create a collaborative approach to client engagement.
  • Identify opportunities for proposals and lead the development, presentation, follow-up, negotiation, and closing of proposals.
  • Develop proposals, including scope development, cost estimating, proposal writing, presentations, and commercial negotiations.
  • Participate in pre-contract meetings and client presentations to strengthen Magna IV's position and build client confidence.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other teams across Magna IV's offices to share client intelligence and identify cross-selling and shared business opportunities.
  • Attend industry conferences, trade shows, networking events, and other professional events to expand Magna IV's presence and develop new relationships.
  • Demonstrate an entrepreneurial approach to identifying opportunities, developing relationships, and growing business within the assigned territory.
  • Build awareness of Magna IV's capabilities and position the organization as a trusted technical partner within the market.

Sales Leadership & Revenue Growth

  • Personally generate approximately 50-70% of regional sales, while maintaining oversight of all sales activity within the region, including opportunities generated by Project Managers and other team members.
  • Establish and maintain a strong sales pipeline to support regional revenue and growth objectives.
  • Work collaboratively with Operations and Project Management to ensure successful transition of sold work into execution.
  • Participate in annual strategic planning, including the development of regional budgets and three-year sales targets.
  • Establish, monitor, and report on annual, quarterly, and monthly sales KPIs.
  • Provide regular sales pipeline, forecasting, and market updates to the Director of Sales and leadership team.
  • Identify emerging market trends and opportunities and recommend strategies to capitalize on them.
  • Support the continued growth and development of Magna IV's client base throughout Alberta and the broader Western Canadian market.
