Role Overview

The Project Manager - Construction Projects is responsible for planning and executing capital construction and facility projects across Mitsubishi Power's Americas operations. This role manages projects from concept through commissioning, ensuring safe execution, schedule adherence, cost control, and highquality outcomes aligned with operational and business objectives.

The Project Manager works closely with Projects leadership, Operations, Engineering, EHS, Finance, Sourcing, and the inhouse General Contractor / Owner's Representative to deliver capital projects efficiently and in compliance with corporate, regulatory, and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates our core competencies: Action oriented, change champion, customer-focused, developing self & others, and ownership
  • Lead and manage all phases of assigned projects, ensuring delivery of scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety objectives.
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor integrated project schedules, critical paths, resource plans, and project dependencies; implement recovery plans when needed.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, issues, and opportunities through contract review and collaboration with project leadership.
  • Manage project communications by providing status updates, facilitating meetings, documenting decisions and action items, and preparing stakeholder briefings.
  • Administer project change management, including scope expansion, change orders, pricing strategies, approvals, and execution plans.
  • Monitor project performance, costs, subcontractor and vendor activities, invoices, and payments to ensure contractual and financial compliance.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with customers, subcontractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to support successful project execution.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, quality requirements, and regulatory obligations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Oversee project closeout activities, including warranty documentation, record drawings, final payments, claims resolution, and contract completion requirements.
  • Capture lessons learned, support continuous improvement initiatives, and promote project management best practices across the organization.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, conflict resolution, and performance feedback to project team members.
  • Perform additional duties and special assignments as directed by the Director of Projects.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field required.
  • Seven (7)+ years of experience managing large power generation, construction, or industrial projects.
  • PMP certification preferred.
  • Strong understanding of project management principles, contracts, risk management, scheduling, and project controls.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare reports, present information, and communicate effectively with customers, stakeholders, and leadership.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to evaluate technical data, identify issues, and develop practical solutions.
  • Proficient in project management, scheduling, database, spreadsheet, word processing, and other business software applications.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, drawings, specifications, contracts, and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a complex project environment.
