Job description

Planet Technologies, the Nation's leading Microsoft services provider to the public sector, is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our growing team as PMO Manager. In this role, you will be supporting impactful projects that make a difference for our country.
 
The Project Management Office (PMO) Manager oversees the project management practice, which includes governance, team leadership, tracking and monitoring, communication, and quality controls. These activities will ensure the delivery of project management services that meet organizational goals and requirements.  Responsibilities will require supervision, management, PMO staff, and collaboration with leadership at the departmental and executive levels. This job operates remotely in a professional office environment and could be requested to go onsite as required by business needs. 
Responsibilities
  • The Project Management Office (PMO) Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day execution and delivery of project management services including team leadership, project oversight, performance tracking, and stakeholder communication.
  • Ensures a broad spectrum of technical engagements are delivered in alignment with defined scope, schedule, and budget expectations established
  • Effective communication with executive leadership and departmental teams to maintain efficient project execution, resource coordination, and consistent delivery outcomes.
  • Direct supervision of a remote-based PMO team including Senior Project Managers, Projects Managers and Program Managers who each carry multiple on-going projects varying in size. 
  • Provide an example of strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, along with modeling adaptability to changing priorities while maintaining a consistent focus on delivering high-quality results.
  • A customer driven work ethic that matches Planet's principals of providing exceptional service, partnership and surpassing expectations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business or technology or equivalent experience. Master's degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of Five (5) or more years of experience as a PMO Manager or Director for a large enterprise matrixed organization, balancing multiple ongoing priorities is essential.
  • Competencies include a strong understanding of project management methodologies (Agile, PMBOK) with a demonstrated ability to execute and deliver projects successfully.
  • Experience delivering complex IT projects that demand an understanding of technical deployments that drive client success
  • Previous experience managing project financials, including budgeting, cost control, and the ability to identify and resolve risks and issues to maintain delivery commitments including the ability to analyze project metrics and performance data and use insights to drive execution-focused decisions.
  • Experience ensuring adherence to SOWs, contractual commitments, and delivery standards is required
  • Deliver clear communication to vertical leadership and partnering cross functionally 
  • Responsibility for identifying risks, assisting staff to manage them appropriately or escalate as needed
  • The capacity to adapt to changing project dynamics, technologies, and market conditions. 
 
  • The successful candidate must possess at least 2 of the following certifications:
    • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
    • PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) Certification
    • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) Certification
    • Microsoft Project 2016/2019 Certification
