Position Description
Do you have a passion for project management? Are you looking for a rewarding internship experience that not only enhances your skills but also immerses you in the dynamic realm of HVAC projects?
As a Project Management Intern, you will have the opportunity to support and contribute to the successful execution of commercial HVAC projects in Nevada. SVM's internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in project coordination, management and exposure to various tasks associated with Project Management. The Project Management intern will work closely with experienced Project Managers and cross-functional teams to provide valuable assistance in project planning, execution, and documentation.
What You will Do:
  • Prepare complete, detailed cost estimates and proposals for select design/build and plan & specification projects targeted by SVM.
  • Provide HVAC system layouts and engineering projects to be utilized for prospective projects and secured jobs
  • Work closely with engineer and drafting team to complete permit and construction drawings.
  • Maintain the critical link/flow of information from the office to the field for all SVM construction projects to ensure the highest probability of project success and repeat business.
  • Attend job walks and project meetings on behalf of SVM for the purpose of securing projects, maintaining relationships, and delivering successful construction projects.
  • Provide updated, accurate financial information for all projects under your supervision, including timely updates on project financial projections to management.
  • Oversee the preparation of all project closeout items including as-built documentation, O&M manuals, warranties, etc. in effort to ensure repeat customer business and prompt final payment.
  • Maintain a commitment to excellence and to always act in the best interest of Silicon Valley Mechanical .
  • Support the Project Management department with other tasks and projects as business requires.

Position Requirements
Education, Skills & Experience:
  • Pursuing a Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Construction Management required.
  • Prior intern experience with a mechanical contractor and/or engineering consultant highly preferred, but not required.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office preferred.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism when working with SVM employees, vendors and customers required.
  • Ability to work independently, maintain organization, and meet deadlines required.
  • Must be accountable and strive accuracy on commitments required.
  • Outstanding ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written a must.
  • Experience with Viewpoint of another Construction Accounting Software preferred.
  • Proven proficiency in various office equipment and programs including MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) required.

Compensation:
This is an hourly full-time internship opportunity. The compensation for this role is $25.00 - $30.00 per hour and is based on experience and skillset. The work schedule/role includes one 30-minute unpaid lunch break and two paid separate rest breaks.
Physical Requirements:
As a Project Management Intern in the Mechanical Contracting Industry, there are certain physical requirements you should be aware of. These requirements ensure that you are capable of performing the necessary tasks safely and effectively. The key physical requirements for this role are outlined below:
  • This role may involve physical activity including walking, standing, and driving while moving around the office and visiting construction sites.
  • This role may be required to lift equipment, materials or tools up to 50 lbs.
  • This role may be required to work at elevated heights and in various work conditions when overseeing installations and other project processes.
  • This role may be required to navigate through confined spaces such as mechanical rooms, crawlspaces, or attics.
  • This role may require reviewing and interpreting architectural drawings, schematics, blueprints and other technical documents related to HVAC projects.
  • This role may work in various environments, including construction sites, commercial buildings, etc.
  • This role may require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) during job walks and site visits.
