Communications & Events Student Intern - Public Affairs

Student will report directly to the Communications Manager.
The student supports all sections within the Education Department and performs a variety of planning and project management functions for the Education Department including assisting with digital communications, content development, media monitoring, development of visual communications and marketing materials and preparation and coordination of events.

The purpose of employing students and temporary employees is to provide assistance to the full-time staff, and to provide meaningful work experience and training for the individual to prepare them for future employment.

Duties and Responsibilities
 
Communications Support
Assist the Public Affairs Office with digital communications, content development, and media monitoring. Responsibilities include:
        Assisting with social media management, including drafting and scheduling content across platforms
        Monitoring social media channels and conducting social listening
        Staying abreast of emerging social media trends and digital engagement strategies
        Identifying and recommending content opportunities based on social listening and emerging digital trends
        Assisting with development of communications plans using the system's communications software
        Supporting planning and promotion of Louisiana Community College Week and other system initiatives
        Assisting with research and drafting digital content, including social media posts and communications material
Creative and Design Support
Assist with the development of visual communications and marketing materials. Responsibilities may include:
        Creating social media graphics and visual assets
        Assisting with design of event materials and promotional graphics
Events Support
Assist with preparation and coordination for LCTC events, meetings, and conferences. Responsibilities may include:
        Assisting with preparation of event materials and communications
        Supporting updates to event web pages and related information
        Assisting with registration tracking and attendee communications
        Helping organize and prepare event supplies and materials in advance of events
        Assisting with logistical preparation and general event support as needed
Additional Responsibilities
Providing general administrative and communications support as needed
Performing other related duties as assigned

Required Education: Should be a full-time graduate or undergraduate student and maintain full-time status in order to retain eligibility for continued employment as a student worker.
Verification of full-time student status must be furnished to the Human Resources office at the beginning of each Spring and Fall semester.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must be able to work up to 20 hours per week during the regular semesters and up to 29 hours per week during the summer semester (excluding finals week)
Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
Must be able to use the standard Microsoft Office programs
***Student employees are allowed to work no more than 20 hours per week while attending classes. Student employees may work up to 29 hours per week but shall not exceed 29 hours when not attending classes.***

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 
Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Sign, and Canva experience preferred
