Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated Apprentice Electrician to assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems on commercial and industrial construction projects. Under the direction of a Journeyman Electrician or Foreman, you will gain hands-on experience while developing the skills necessary to become a licensed electrician. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, dependable, eager to learn, and committed to producing high-quality work. Bilingual proficiency is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
  • Hands-on Installation: Assist with the installation of conduit (EMT, IMC, RMC), wire pulling, cable terminations, lighting, devices, switchgear, transformers, motor control centers (MCCs), and other electrical equipment under supervision.
  • Learning & Development: Learn commercial and industrial electrical installation methods, National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements, and company standards through on-the-job training and classroom instruction.
  • Material Handling: Load, unload, organize, and transport tools, equipment, and materials to support daily jobsite activities.
  • Blueprint Assistance: Assist in reading commercial blueprints, industrial schematics, and wiring diagrams to understand installation layouts and project requirements.
  • Troubleshooting Support: Assist Journeymen and Foremen in identifying and repairing electrical issues while developing troubleshooting skills.
  • Jobsite Safety: Follow all OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and PPE requirements to maintain a safe work environment. Participate in weekly toolbox talks and safety meetings.
  • Housekeeping: Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area by properly storing tools, disposing of debris, and protecting installed equipment.
  • Team Support: Work effectively with Journeymen, Foremen, Project Managers, and fellow apprentices while maintaining a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Quality Workmanship: Perform assigned tasks with attention to detail while following company quality standards and ensuring work complies with applicable NEC requirements.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Apprenticeship: Enrolled in or willing to enroll in IEC Apprenticeship program after probationary period.
  • Experience: Previous commercial or industrial electrical experience is preferred but not required. Construction experience is a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Basic understanding of electrical tools, construction practices, and a willingness to learn commercial and industrial electrical systems.
  • Safety Certifications: OSHA 10 certification preferred or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe after hire.
  • Tools: Must possess a basic set of hand tools appropriate for apprentice-level electrical work. Power tools and metering equipment are provided by the company.
  • Records and Screenings: Ability to pass drug test and background check.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50lbs regularly.
  • Comfortable working on ladders, scaffolding, and scissor lifts at various heights.
  • Comfortable standing, kneeling, bending, and working in varying weather conditions.
