Position Overview

Rate of pay:  $34-$40/hr

Embark on an exhilarating journey as you ascend to heights with aspiring trainees and seasoned climbing arborists, taking on the role of the Tree Care Coordinator! The Tree Care Coordinator will be responsible for the development of climbing arborists within a specific territory.  This position mentors, teaches, trains, and engages new and existing climbing arborists within the territory to further develop their skills in safe work practices, climbing efficiency, and career advancement.  Climbing alongside trainees is necessary to facilitate their training. 

Job Duties
  • Production based field training of new and existing employees to aid in Career Development Program progression, employee engagement and skill development.  Must use best practices, Davey Safety and Training Manual, ANSI Z133 Safety Standards, and ANSI A300 Pruning Standards to accomplish goals.  Climbing alongside trainees is necessary to facilitate their training.
  • Work with Regional Skills Trainers and Safety Managers to enhance training opportunities identified after visits with field crews.
  • Engage as a trainer for new employee orientation to include First Aid, CPR, Electrical Hazard Awareness, Chipper Safety, and Company Safety Policies.
  • Mentor and engage new and existing employees to further enhance employee engagement, retention, and advancement.
  • Follow new hire Onboarding program and ensure documentation and completion of new employee’s assignments in the Learning Management System as well as the Career Development Book.
  • Guide discussions around Close Calls with field team and document those weekly in Origami.
  • Participate in technical pruning and removal projects and crane removals to train and increase expertise of field personnel.
  • Work with Sales and Management Team to preview work to identify needs and training opportunities.
  • Ordering of approved gear and supplies within budget outlined and approved by management.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive climbing arborist experience in safe tree care production operations.  Preference given to those with 2 or more years of experience with The Davey Tree Expert Company.
  • Qualified in the Davey Career Development Program as a Crew Leader or the ability to obtain qualification within 90 days of hire.
  • Proven performance in applied safety standards for tree work and tree care.
  • Demonstrated coaching, mentoring, and leadership skills.
  • First Aid and CPR certified
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • CDL license a plus
  • Industry certifications such as ISA Certified Arborist, ISA Certified Tree Worker and/or TCIA Certified Treecare Safety Professional is a plus
