Job description

Goal:
To provide supervision, support, and care for students in various settings, including classrooms, lunchrooms, playgrounds, and before/after school programs, fostering a safe, structured, and nurturing environment.

Accountable To: Principal and/or Childcare Coordinator

Type of Position: Non-exempt | Hourly | Part-time and Full-time options

CURRENT OPENINGS - Multiple; work schedules and responsibilities vary by specific campus needs. Both Full-time and Part-time are available.

Responsibilities:


The specific responsibilities and work schedule for this role will be tailored to meet the needs of the school and may vary based on assignments and priorities. These details will be communicated and finalized during the hiring process. Flexibility and adaptability to take on varying duties as assigned are key expectations for this position. Types of responsibilities may include:

  1. Classroom Assistance:

    • Assist the teacher with preparation of materials for lessons or projects.

    • Work with small groups or individual students to support learning activities.

    • Supervise classroom activities, including transitions and bathroom breaks.

  2. Student Supervision:

    • Supervise students during lunch and recess, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment.

    • Monitor student behavior and manage interactions during structured and unstructured activities.

    • Oversee bathroom breaks and hallway transitions as needed.

  3. Before/After School Care:

    • Supervise students during scheduled before/after school program hours.

    • Facilitate structured playtime, snacks, and homework support for students.

    • Use a computer to manage attendance and check-in/out procedures.

  4. Health and Safety:

    • Disinfect tables, chairs, and other surfaces after use.

    • Inspect playground equipment for safety and report any concerns.

    • Set up cones, signs, or other equipment for recess or dismissal procedures.

  5. Parent and Student Interaction:

    • Greet parents during drop-off/pick-up and communicate updates as necessary.

    • Relationally connect with students to build a positive and caring rapport.

  6. Other Duties:

    • Prepare and organize snacks or lunches.

    • Assist younger students as needed.

    • Assist in dismissal procedures by ensuring students are safely connected to parents or guardians.

    • Additional duties and support as needed.
