Manufacturing Leadership Intern

DESCRIPTION
The Manufacturing Leadership Intern position is designed for students pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Operations Management, Manufacturing Management, Project Management, or a related field who are interested in developing future leadership skills within a manufacturing environment. This role provides hands-on exposure to manufacturing operations, project execution, production planning, and business processes while working closely with site leadership and cross-functional teams.
The intern will contribute to key operational initiatives, including project scheduling, capacity planning, production tracking, and continuous improvement efforts. Through collaboration with engineering, procurement, manufacturing, assembly, and project management teams, the intern will gain a comprehensive understanding of how customer projects are executed from concept through delivery.
This internship is designed to develop both technical and leadership capabilities by providing real-world experience in problem-solving, decision-making, process improvement, and operational execution. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, analytical, organized, and eager to learn, with a strong interest in pursuing a career in manufacturing, operations, project management, or leadership.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support the Site Director and Project Execution Team in monitoring project schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Assist in maintaining project timing plans and identifying schedule risks that could impact customer commitments.
  • Utilize Invio's ERP system to track project progress, monitor workloads, and identify potential roadblocks affecting project execution.
  • Review capacity planning data across engineering, manufacturing, assembly, and controls departments to support resource allocation decisions.
  • Track project performance metrics and assist in developing reports and dashboards for management review.
  • Support weekly project review meetings by gathering, organizing, and presenting project status information.
  • Monitor open action items and help drive accountability for completion across functional teams.
  • Assist with the coordination of engineering releases, procurement activities, manufacturing schedules, and shipment readiness.
  • Support the Release for Build (RFB) process by ensuring required documentation and approvals are complete.
  • Work closely with Project Managers to identify risks, escalation items, and opportunities for schedule recovery.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate project data and reporting within ERP and project management systems.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on project execution, workflow efficiency, and operational performance.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, procurement, and manufacturing teams to ensure alignment with project objectives.
  • Develop and present project status summaries and recommendations to leadership as required.
  • Demonstrate professionalism in all activities and provide exceptional support to both internal and external customers.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned by the Site Director.

EDUCATION
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Operations Management, Manufacturing Management, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Management, or a related field.
  • Must be able to work full-time (40 hours per week) during the summer months.
  • Must be able to work part-time during the academic school year based on class schedule and business needs.
  • Strong interest in project management, manufacturing operations, business processes, and continuous improvement.
  • Prior internship, leadership, manufacturing, project coordination or operations experience is a plus, but not required
