Summary

The Project Engineer (PE) leads, coordinates, and exercises technical program execution authority over Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) for planning, organizing, controlling, executing, integrating and installing, and closing out engineering content on a variety of programs related to enterprise systems integrating with flight simulations. The position will work closely with senior level program engineering management and engage with government and training/simulation industry partners.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing complex project initiatives of tactical and strategic importance to the organization, ranging from small to large cross-functional teams.
  • Project initiatives include technologies, such as: virtualization/containerization of software applications; integration of computer systems across LAN and WAN using both government provided suppliers and company solutions; information technology; and cybersecurity vulnerability, operating system patching, Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), anti-virus distribution, authentication, and accreditation tools. The PE will manage the execution of these technologies, as well as the documentation and standards review with a consortium of government and industry participants.
  • Coordinates with other PEs in the Product Line for execution of multiple programs using similar resources and technologies
  • Performs as the technical lead over the assigned engineering team on a program to include leading/participating in program peer & gate reviews, supporting program management reviews (PMRs), and coordinating technical activity amongst the program IPTs.
  • Performs weekly/monthly Cost Account Management (CAM) reviews with IPTs and is responsible for technical, cost and schedule performance for the engineering content on a program.
  • Communicates within and outside of the organization which includes customers or suppliers.
  • Receives engineering direction from, and is accountable to, a Directorate Chief Engineer (DCE), who has overall Program Engineering responsibility for successfully proposing, developing, and delivering Product Line solutions.
  • Work consists of making significant improvements of processes, systems, solutions, or products to enhance performance of job area.
  • Implement strategic goals established by leadership.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Sciences
  • 8+ years of USG/DoD development program experience
  • 3+ years of Engineering Lead experience in USG/DoD development programs
  • 3+ years of Engineering on programs with cyber security requirements
  • 3+ years of Engineering on programs with development and integration using technologies listed above
  • 3+ years of experience with engineering management, development, and tracking tools, collaboration tools, Earned Value Management (EVM), and schedule management

Preferred Skills

  • 5+ years of experience within the training and simulation industry
  • 3+ years of experience in engineering disciplines of system engineering, software engineering, cyber engineering, and/or network engineering
  • 3+ years of experience performing as liaison between program management, engineering management, and the technical disciplines involved in a project.
  • 3+ years of experience performing as primary technical interface with USG/DoD customers.

Must complywith all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures. Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval. All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.

  • Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.

Work Environment

  • Works at job activities that require sitting, standing or walking for short periods throughout the day and focused visual concentration or focused listening
  • Workissometimesperformedin an environment where irritants such as noise, temperature, and lighting variations may exist.
  • Some time will be spent in a development lab and with occasional travel (10% of the time)
