Job Title
Project Engineer
Position Overview
Shaw Industries is seeking a Project Engineer to support manufacturing operations at Plant 70/86 in Bainbridge, Georgia. This position is responsible for the development and execution of capital and expense projects, providing technical support to manufacturing and maintenance operations, and leading a team of maintenance mechanics that support the plant's day-to-day operations.
The Project Engineer will work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Environmental, and Corporate teams to improve safety, reliability, productivity, quality, and cost performance. This role requires strong project management, leadership, and troubleshooting skills within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
Maintenance Leadership & Reliability
  • Provide direct leadership, coaching, and development for a team of maintenance mechanics supporting daily plant operations.
  • Establish priorities and coordinate maintenance activities to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Support preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
  • Monitor maintenance performance metrics and reliability initiatives.
  • Assist with root cause investigations and implementation of corrective actions for equipment and process failures.
  • Partner with Operations and Maintenance personnel to improve equipment performance and plant efficiency.
  • Support spare parts management, equipment criticality assessments, and long-term asset reliability strategies.

Project Engineering & Capital Management
  • Develop, justify, and execute capital and expense projects that improve safety, quality, productivity, environmental performance, and reliability.
  • Prepare project scopes, budgets, schedules, specifications, and supporting documentation.
  • Manage contractors, vendors, and project installations while ensuring compliance with Shaw safety and environmental requirements.
  • Track project expenditures and communicate progress to plant leadership.
  • Oversee equipment commissioning, startup, and project closeout activities.
  • Maintain project documentation in accordance with corporate engineering standards.

Technical Support & Continuous Improvement
  • Serve as a technical resource for manufacturing and maintenance teams.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, utility, and process-related issues.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, waste reduction, energy savings, and increased equipment reliability.
  • Support TPM, reliability, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in safety investigations, risk assessments, and environmental compliance activities.
