Job description

Are you ready to lead impactful structural projects that shape communities and infrastructure? KL Engineering is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Structural Engineer to join our growing team. This is your opportunity to work on a wide range of projects—from trail boardwalks to interstate bridges—while mentoring others and advancing your career in a collaborative, flexible environment.

What You'll Do:
  • Lead & Inspire: Manage structural engineering projects from concept through construction. Guide and mentor engineers and technicians while ensuring quality and innovation in every design.
  • Design & Deliver: Develop bridge rehabilitation and replacement concepts, prepare structural designs, plans, specifications, quantities, and cost estimates.
  • Collaborate & Communicate: Serve as a client liaison, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to contract negotiations and project proposals.
  • Manage & Monitor: Oversee project schedules, budgets, and invoicing. Ensure deliverables meet scope, standards, and client expectations.
  • Grow & Develop: Engage in business development, marketing, and proposal preparation while expanding your leadership role within the firm.
What We're Looking For:
  • Education: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering (structural emphasis preferred).
  • Experience: 10+ years of structural engineering experience.
  • Certification: Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Skills: Proficiency in structural design and analysis software, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and strong technical writing and communication skills.
  • Mindset: Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and passionate about mentoring and leading teams.
  • Experience Areas: Reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, steel, and wood structures. WisDOT experience is a plus.
