Job Description:

The Mechanical Engineer I position is responsible for assisting in the design or alteration of machines, sections, systems, units, or parts with consideration of manufacturing feasibility, cost, and operation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Learn how machines are developed, designed, documented, and released for manufacturing, assembly, and test.
  • Become familiar with the computer systems and software, filing methods, release systems, and product lines.
  • Assist in creating innovative conceptual designs, technical solutions, and assembly drawings.
  • Perform hands-on design and detailing of machine parts and assemblies.
  • Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations to maintenance crew.
  • Support purchasing in evaluating offers and suppliers.
  • Read and interprets blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics.
  • Assist in researching and analyzing customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.
  • Meet design deliverables for quality, cost, and scheduling.
  • Maintain knowledge of technology upgrades, industry trends, and engineering resources to meet or exceed product development or customer requirements.
  • Assist in solving customer issues related to design or product performance.
  • Collaborate to develop and improve products and engineering processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 0 - 2 years of related experience.
  • OEM experience in machine component design is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Proficient in 3D CAD (SolidWorks/PDM and/or Autodesk Inventor/Vault)
  • Demonstrated project completion experience and ownership.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% by air or car.
