Job description

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Construction Project Manager oversees Janicki’s manufacturing facility expansions and renovations as directed by the Sr. Construction Manager. Expertise in managing budgets, timelines, and contractor relationships will ensure the seamless execution of projects, enhancing Janicki’s manufacturing capabilities and supporting our growth initiatives. Strong project management skills, as well as the ability to communicate across multiple organizational boundaries, shifts, and disciplines is critical.

The following essential job functions are performed as a Construction Project Manager:

  • Create request for proposals and assess contractors for selection
  • Must be able to take the initiative to develop systems and processes to develop, construct, and close construction projects
  • During the project development phase, supports the project development group by providing a high-level schedule to identify key milestones, provide a high-level budget to identify large expenditures, identifies risks associated with projects
  • During the project design phase, supports the engineering staff by reviewing drawings and specification to support construction, manages engineering and design resources by negotiating terms and managing expectations, reviews documentation to ensure constructability
  • During the project execution phase, identifies and manages contractors, manage the budget, manage the construction schedule, regularly visit worksite to monitor progress and quality, acts as Janicki’s representative
  • During the project commissioning phase, inspects the installation and manages punch list, manages orderly power-up to support the commissioning plan
  • During the project closeout phase, provides contractor final acceptance, ensures as-built data is communicated, ensures operations and maintenance documents are supplied to site operation and maintenance staff, and coordinates site maintenance staff training
  • During all phases must demonstrate accountability for project planning, execution, job cost tracking, and job closure
  • Plans ahead to prevent problems and resolve any emerging ones
  • Coordinate with Program and Operations teams to create and maintain statement of work and design of spaces to meet program needs
  • Collaborate with and provide direction to engineers, architects, general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure scope requirements are met
  • Ensure adherence to legal and environmental regulations, building codes, and other requirements
  • Must work well under pressure, meeting and completing multiple deadlines on multiple projects, simultaneously
  • Must be at work on time and maintain good attendance. This is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job
  • Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Due to our ITAR and EAR regulations, applicants must be a US Citizen or of Legal Permanent Resident Status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a) (3).

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management preferred
  • 3-5 years construction project management experience, or equivalent
  • Superior knowledge of codes, construction methods, and compliance laws required
  • Proven ability to put systems in place and define workflows to create efficient project development, excitation, and closure
  • High level of competency in labor, material, and contract management
  • Proven ability to complete a detailed take-off and all required estimating for a variety of projects
  • Must have strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to read and understand drawings, models, and technical manuals
  • Must be able to rely on extensive experience, problem-solving skills, judgment and collaboration to plan and accomplish goals
  • Must have excellent communication, teambuilding and customer service skills
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Office products and project planning software
  • Familiarity with software packages including MS Project and ability to learn SAP
  • Ability to lead a team by being a good and effective communicator
  • Proficient, or ability to become proficient, with Autodesk Revit
  • Budgeting and financial knowledge
  • Advanced analytical and schedule management skills
  • Ability to plan and adapt to unforeseen situations
  • Must have effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language
  • Must be willing and able to obtain a government issued security clearance

Detailed Wage Information

Wage range for this role is between $90,000 - $150,000 per year plus a discretionary bonus, 401(k) matching, vacation, and health benefits. Employees can also receive additional pay for off-shifts, off-site work, and access pay. The range provided is Janicki’s estimate of the base compensation for this role. Actual amount offered will be based on job-related and non-discriminatory factors such as experience, location, education, training, skills, and abilities
