Job description

Cabinet Peaks Medical Center is looking for a Business Development Manager to join our Admin Team!

The Hospital Business Development Manager is a strategic, results-driven professional responsible for identifying, evaluating, and executing growth opportunities that expand the hospital's market presence, revenue streams, and service-line capabilities. This position requires a sophisticated understanding of healthcare finance, competitive market dynamics, and operational strategy. The ideal candidate is self-sufficient, proactive, and possesses a demonstrated ability to work independently while building collaborative relationships across clinical, financial, and executive leadership teams.


Major Job Duties & Responsibilities

Identify and evaluate new business opportunities including service-line expansions, joint ventures, physician alignment strategies, ambulatory growth, and outpatient network development.
Develop, own, and execute a comprehensive business development plan aligned with the hospital's strategic goals and multi-year growth targets.
Conduct competitive landscape analyses to identify gaps in market coverage, unmet patient needs, and strategic positioning opportunities.
Lead due diligence processes for new ventures, partnerships, and potential acquisitions or affiliations.
Monitor healthcare industry trends, regulatory changes, and reimbursement shifts that may create or threaten growth opportunities.
Build detailed financial models and ROI projections for proposed business initiatives, including pro formas, break-even analyses, and scenario planning.
Partner with Finance and CFO office to validate assumptions, incorporate cost structures, and stress-test projections.
Present data-driven business cases to executive leadership and the Board, clearly articulating financial risks, benefits, and timelines.
Track and report on the financial performance of launched initiatives against projected targets.
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with physicians, physician groups, post-acute partners, insurers, community organizations, and referring providers
Serve as the primary liaison for external partners in negotiations, contract discussions, and ongoing partnership management.
Represent the hospital at regional healthcare forums, industry conferences, and community events.
Analyze market intelligence data, patient origin studies, claims data, and demographic trends to inform strategic priorities.
Monitor competitor activities and benchmark organizational performance against regional and national peers.
Leverage CRM tools and data analytics platforms to track business development pipeline, referral patterns, and market penetration metrics.
Collaborate with Marketing, Operations, Physician Relations, Legal, Compliance, and clinical leadership to ensure alignment of business objectives.
Participate in strategic planning cycles and contribute to the annual operating plan with actionable growth initiatives.
Support service-line leaders with market data, business cases, and implementation support for growth projects.


Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities

  • Deep understanding of healthcare industry dynamics including reimbursement models, value-based care, regulatory environment (HIPAA, Stark Law, Anti-Kickback), and competitive market factors.
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to develop pro formas, interpret financial statements, and conduct ROI analysis.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with proficiency in data analytics tools and CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce, Definitive Healthcare, Sg2).
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills; able to translate complex data into compelling executive narratives.
  • High degree of self-sufficiency - capable of independently managing complex projects from inception through execution with minimal supervision.
  • Proactive and entrepreneurial mindset with a consistent record of identifying opportunities and driving them to completion.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills with both internal and external stakeholders.



Schedule

Based on the needs of the business. Office-based with frequent on-site presence at hospital facilities, partner sites, and community locations. Occasional evening or weekend availability may be required for events or executive-level engagements.


Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Finance, or a related field required. Master's degree (MBA, MHA, or equivalent) strongly preferred.


Experience

Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in business development, strategy, or growth management within a healthcare or hospital environment.

Demonstrated success developing and launching new service lines, programs, or strategic partnerships with measurable results.

Proven experience building financial models, conducting market analysis, and presenting recommendations to senior leadership.

Experience working with physician enterprises, payer contracting, or post-acute networks is a strong plus.
