Description

Leidos Engineering has an opportunity for an Associate Project Manager based in Atlanta, GA who will work alongside project managers, lead engineers, and account managers supporting electric utility clients. This role will be highly client-facing and will require regular communication with customers, project teams, and engineering leadership.

The Associate Project Manager will be part of an established Project Management Office within our Power Delivery Solutions division that provides consulting services to public-owned and investor-owned electric utilities for comprehensive engineering design of electrical transmission, substation, and distribution projects nationwide.

This position supports a hybrid work environment based out of our Atlanta, GA office, with an expectation of regular in-office collaboration with the Atlanta team.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist project managers in managing various sized transmission line design projects for public-owned and investor-owned electric utilities
  • Support overall project performance and reporting for assigned projects and workstreams
  • Help lead and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams to meet project objectives and client commitments
  • Serve as a regular point of contact for clients and support client meetings, project updates, deliverable coordination, and issue resolution
  • Ensure project costs, schedule, and scope are managed, including the development of recovery plans with a focus on change management, to stay within approved limits
  • Communicate with clients, internal project teams, multiple engineering disciplines, functional leaders, subcontractors, and support personnel
  • Create and maintain resource loaded schedules
  • Coordinate with Engineering Leads to track and execute client deliverables
  • Assist with the preparation of bid documents, cost estimates, and responses to Requests for Proposal
  • Complete monthly client invoicing, accruals, and accounts receivable within prescribed time frames

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution is required
  • 1+ year of experience in project management, project coordination, engineering project execution, or a related role
  • Experience coordinating or leading project teams, technical teams, or multidisciplinary work efforts
  • Experience working directly with clients or customers in a professional environment
  • Must be capable of planning, organizing, directing, and tracking technical efforts on assigned tasks
  • Must be capable of tracking cost and schedule status of assigned tasks
  • Ability to take direction from and discuss decisions with the direct supervisor, and to coordinate with project team members
  • Experience with MS Office Software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to interact with customer representatives in an effective manner
  • Candidates must be willing and able to work in a hybrid environment based out of the Atlanta, GA office

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with electric power industry and knowledge of business issues associated with power delivery services
  • Previous experience leading or coordinating engineering teams or technical project work
  • Ideal candidates will have a desire to obtain PMP Certification
  • Experience with project management software (e.g., Workfront, MS Project or P6)
