Required Qualifications (PCU / Stepdown Nurse)
  • Active RN license in Ohio or compact state (must be current prior to start)
  • Minimum of 1 year RN experience; stepdown/PCU or critical care experience preferred
  • Ventilator experience required (Vents/Trachs, BiPAP, CPAP, High Flow, Airvo)
  • Experience managing insulin drips and other acuity-related drips strongly preferred
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Certification required (may obtain prior to start if not current)
  • Dysrhythmia exam required (study guide available)
  • Ability and willingness to float to like or lower acuity units (PCU, SDU, IMC, med-surg)
Responsibilities (PCU / Stepdown Registered Nurse)
  • Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments, interpret clinical data, and develop individualized care plans
  • Administer medications and manage drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone, insulin drips; no pressors expected)
  • Provide advanced airway and ventilator care, including vent management and trach care
  • Care for a broad range of patients: respiratory, renal, surgical, trauma, and medically complex cases
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (physicians, respiratory therapy, pharmacists) to coordinate patient care
  • Act as a patient advocate and safety champion; participate in quality improvement initiatives
  • Educate patients and families on disease processes, treatments, and discharge planning
  • Float to other PCU, SDU, IMC, or lower acuity units as operational needs require
