POSITION SUMMARY
The Director - Enterprise Communications provides leadership for the company's digital communications ecosystem, external communications channels, corporate narrative, and reputation-building capabilities. This role leads the development and execution of integrated communications strategies across the company's intranet, websites, social media, media relations, paid media, and other owned, earned and shared channels to advance business priorities, strengthen stakeholder engagement, and ensure consistent, high-quality execution aligned with brand standards, regulatory requirements and enterprise governance expectations.
As a communications leader, the successful candidate will advise and influence senior leaders on high-visibility communications while leading enterprise capabilities for issues management, crisis and emergency communications readiness, media engagement, executive and leader social media, escalation protocols, response playbooks, and core corporate content. This role requires strong judgment, business acumen, storytelling, governance, stakeholder management and team leadership skills to navigate complex internal and external dynamics and deliver communications that build understanding, alignment and confidence in the company's strategy, priorities and Core Values.
This role is part of the Communications organization and will report to the Vice President of Culture & Communications. This position can be based in Findlay, OH; Houston, TX; or San Antonio, TX.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the development & execution of the Company's enterprise digital communications ecosystem (intranet, websites, and social media channels) and associated content governance with alignment to business priorities, brand standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead issues management and crisis/emergency communications capabilities in coordination with Communications Business Partners, Executive Communications, Crisis Communications, Community Relations and the broader communications team to ensure effective incident communications readiness and response.
- Develop and oversee the Company's enterprise media relations strategy and act as a primary spokesperson for high-impact and high-visibility media engagements.
- Oversee the Company's corporate paid media strategy and the integrated use of paid, earned, owned, and shared channels. Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to prioritize investments, oversee agency work, and optimize campaigns using performance insights.
- Advise the establishment of escalation protocols and response playbooks; in partnership with internal communications organizations, law, Investor Relations, and other stakeholders.
- Manage the development, review, and governance of enterprise narrative content, including annual enterprise reporting materials and core corporate profile content, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with disclosure requirements.
- Advise and influence senior leaders on high-visibility communications, including effective executive and leader social media engagement. Lead team in developing enterprise-level messaging frameworks across external audiences and in partnership with internal communications teams.
- Ensure that the Company's broader strategy, core values, purpose, strengths, and vision are meaningfully demonstrated throughout all enterprise communications initiatives.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
- Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, business, or a related field required
- Twelve (12) or more years of progressive communications experience, including enterprise digital communications, external communications, and reputation/issue management required
- Two (2) or more years of experience managing professional staff and developing high-performing teams required
- Periodic travel required

- Exceptional ability to translate complex business, operational and reputational topics into clear, compelling communications for diverse audiences, from front-line employees to executive leadership and external stakeholders
- Deep expertise in internal and external communications strategy execution, enterprise channel management and reputation-building practices; ability to set direction, align resources and deliver measurable business impact
- Excellent writing, messaging and content development skills, including under pressure; demonstrated ability to frame business plans, strategic concepts and performance results succinctly and persuasively for senior audiences
- Proven ability to establish, govern and continuously improve scalable communications systems, workflows and standards that increase quality, consistency, speed and enterprise-wide impact
- Demonstrated ability to balance creativity, business judgment and data-driven decision making; skilled at defining meaningful measures, interpreting insights and applying them to strategic communications priorities
- Ability to lead effectively in a fast-paced, highly visible and continuously changing environment with significant autonomy, accountability and sound judgment
- Strong enterprise collaboration and influence skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships, advise senior leaders, lead high-performing teams and navigate a matrixed organization
- Highly effective program leader with strong prioritization, governance and execution discipline; ability to oversee multiple high-impact initiatives concurrently with limited oversight
- High intellectual curiosity and business acumen; eager to develop broad understanding of the energy industry, enterprise priorities, emerging communications practices and evolving digital platforms
