What does a programs manager do?

A Programs Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating multiple projects or initiatives within an organization. They ensure that these programs align with the company’s strategic goals, manage resources, set timelines, and track progress. Programs Managers work closely with project managers and team members, addressing any issues that arise and ensuring that deliverables are met on time and within budget. Their role often involves communicating with stakeholders, developing program strategies, and measuring the overall success of the programs.

Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills help Programs Managers motivate teams and coordinate across departments. You will oversee complex, multi-quarter initiatives, drive OKR alignment and reporting, manage cross-team dependencies, and provide leadership visibility into progress, risks, tradeoffs, and investment decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor execution across squads, ensuring adoption of global workflows, OKRs, and operational standards in partnership with Program Operations.

Build and maintain area-level workstreams that clarify ownership, surface risks early, and enable teams to manage interdependencies proactively.

Strategic Alignment & Measurement

Lead OKR creation, alignment, and tracking across Product, Tech, and Design for the Revenue & Growth vertical.

Use financial modeling and business context to support prioritization, investment decisions, and long-range planning.

Provide data-driven insights and executive-level reporting to guide decision-making and ensure program-level impact.
