POSITION SUMMARY:

Vanderlande's Manufacturing Health, Safety, and Environmental Manager is a pivotal role responsible for developing and overseeing the Great Valley HSE program. The HSE Manager is responsible for the safety operations and compliance of all manufacturing activities, including Welding, Bending, Powder coating line, Assembly, Pre-Install, Wood shop, Inventory, Fabrication, Laser, Inbound, Outbound, Picking, and stock control at our Supply Chain location. The Manufacturing HSE Manager provides regulatory expertise and leadership to ensure that regulatory requirements applicable to the facility are known. Plans, organizes, and implements environmental, health, and safety activities at the facility and assists in monitoring all facility activities to ensure that regulatory and company requirements are met, and upholds company-wide safety and health policies.

You will work closely with staff at the Great Valley, White, GA, location, comprising managers, supervisors, full-time and temporary employees, to create and support an engaged safety culture that can meet or exceed daily KPI activities. Consult with the HSE NA team to ensure a safe workplace for all full-time, temporary staffing, and contract employees. Champion a Zero Loss Safety Culture by leading programs that reduce at-risk behaviors and unsafe conditions.

You will report directly to the Senior HSE Program Manager for the North America Customer Center.

Responsibilities

  • The plant HSE Manager is responsible for ensuring safe practices, obtaining injury reduction, implementing proactive safety processes, increasing safety and environmental awareness, and developing and maintaining robust training programs
  • The plant Environmental HSE Manager is responsible for serving as a resource to provide leadership, direction, as well as establishing a meaningful Environmental, Health & Safety vision through commitment and Team Member ownership, including leadership.
  • Ensure safe practices, injury/illness prevention processes, regulatory compliance, along with risk management for liability, Workers' Compensation, safe return-to-work program, and property claims at the manufacturing site are being adhered to.
  • Responsible for the enforcement of Vanderlande's Safety policies and procedures, facilitation and maintenance of behavior-based safety systems, case management, analysis of safety incidents and behaviors.
  • Partner with HSE NA team, Legal, and HR, and on-site injury management coordinators to facilitate appropriate medical care and ensure a timely, safe return to work for injured employees.
  • Support development of safety performance goals and metrics while working with facility leadership to define short- and long-term safety objectives, strategies, and measurable outcomes using both leading and lagging indicators
  • Analyze, review, prepare, and submit recommendations to the HSE NA and various leadership teams for action plans to minimize company exposure to costs associated with Workers' Compensation.
  • Clearly and effectively share safety goals, progress, and expectations with employees, contractors, and other stakeholders to build a strong culture of safety.
  • Integrate safety system elements into roles, responsibilities, and expectations at all levels of the organization
  • Develop and oversee onboarding safety training for new hires and transfers, vendors, and contractors, as well as coordinate annual training schedules to meet regulatory and company-specific requirements
  • Regulatory Assistance - work with manufacturing and engineering to improve the facility's overall safety and health compliance programs.
  • (Internal) Production management - strategize, coach, and mentor HSE Officer
  • Facilitation and Presentation - Training design and delivery

Required Qualifications, Education, and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent, preferably in Environmental, Health & Safety Management, with 10 years related experience and/or training in the HSE field
  • Prefer a minimum of 7+ years of experience in a similar role within the manufacturing industry.
  • 5 years' experience developing and administering HSE programs & training
  • Must have thorough knowledge of US General Industry Safety (29 CFR1910)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a fast-paced Distribution Center or Manufacturing facility experience with a mix of exempt and non-exempt employees at a site of at least 250 people.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
  • Experience with R15.06, Industrial Robots and Robot Systems - Safety Requirements
  • Experience with 1910.147, The control of hazardous energy
  • Experience with regulatory (EPA, OSHA, other) inspections and inquiries
  • Strong Computer application skills, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Gmail, Google Meet for virtual training, and ability to utilize the Safety Management System

Position Type:

This is a full-time, benefit-eligible position.

Travel:

This position may require travel up to 10% travel.
