Calgary Homeless Foundation (CHF)

Calgary Homeless Foundation guides the fight against homelessness. Fueled by this purpose, we envision the day when homelessness is rare, brief, and non-recurring — perhaps an episode in someone's life, but never a condition that defines it. The Position

The Director, Projects & Change Management reports to the Co-Vice President, Finance & Operations and is responsible for enabling the coordinated delivery of Calgary Homeless Foundation’s strategic and operational priorities across initiatives, programs, and projects.

Working closely with the Co-Vice President, Finance & Operations, the Director supports the translation of strategic priorities into well-governed, executable, and sustainable work. The Director establishes the structures, tools, and practices that enable consistent, high-quality execution across the organization.

The Director supports not only individual initiatives, but also the programs and projects that contribute to them, ensuring alignment, coordination, and coherence across all levels of execution.

In addition to providing leadership to the Projects & Change Management team, the Director ensures that CHF has the visibility, discipline, and coordination required to execute effectively in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.

The Director also leads CHF's Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery program, ensuring the organization maintains a coordinated, practical, and regularly tested approach to preparedness, continuity, recovery, and resilience.

Accountability and Deliverables

Key activities include:

Program Leadership & Coordination

• Establish and maintain visibility across CHF’s portfolio of initiatives, programs, and projects
• Support prioritization, sequencing, and capacity planning in partnership with senior leadership
• Identify and surface interdependencies, risks, and trade-offs to support informed decision-making

Project & Change Management System

• Design, implement, and continuously improve CHF’s project and change management frameworks, tools, and standards
• Ensure consistent application of methodologies and practices across projects and teams
• Promote a disciplined, pragmatic approach to execution across the organization

Strategic Initiative & Program Enablement

• Structure and coordinate initiatives, programs, and projects to ensure alignment with strategic priorities
• Translate strategic direction into clear scopes, governance approaches, and execution structures
•  Ensure initiatives are set up for success through strong planning, coordination, and clarity

Change Leadership & Organizational Readiness

• Lead the integration of structured change management practices across initiatives and programs
• Ensure the people side of change is addressed through effective engagement, communication, and readiness planning
• Support sustainable adoption of new processes, systems, and ways of working

Leadership & Team Oversight

• Provide leadership and direction to the Projects & Change Management function, including P&CM Lead, Project Coordinators, and other positions assigned to the function over time.
• Set expectations for delivery discipline, stakeholder engagement, and reporting
•  Support the development of internal capability through coaching, feedback, and ongoing development

Governance, Reporting & Transparency

• Establish and maintain project governance structures, reporting standards, and escalation pathways
• Ensure consistent portfolio-level reporting, dashboards, and visibility for senior leadership to support decision-making and accountability.
• Support the definition and use of success measures and performance indicators

Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery

• Own and maintain CHF’s Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery program, ensuring it remains practical, current, and aligned with organizational needs.
• Coordinate cross-functional planning, documentation, testing, and continuous improvement related to business continuity, disaster recovery, and organizational resilience.
•  Support clear roles, escalation pathways, and recovery expectations so CHF can respond effectively to disruptions and maintain critical operations

Capacity Building & Organizational Enablement

• Lead the development and embedding of project and change management capability across the organization
• Support a culture of continuous improvement, learning, and knowledge sharing
• Contribute to broader organizational priorities where structured execution and change management are required
• Provide oversight, coordination, and support to cross-functional programs and organizational priorities (e.g., sponsored training initiatives, reporting processes, and other system-level work), ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and consistent application of project and change management practices

Education and Experience

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

• 8–12+ years of progressive experience in program, project and change management
• Demonstrated experience leading complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives or transformation efforts
• Experience supporting or establishing projects, portfolio, or program management functions
• Experience advising or working closely with senior leadership

Preferred Qualifications (Assets):

• PMP or equivalent project management certification
• Formal training or certification in change management (e.g., Prosci or equivalent)
• Experience in systems-level work (non-profit, government, or multi-agency environments)
