Job description

We value our students! If you see an open position that is right for you, we encourage you to apply!

Position Description:

The Physician Assistant Studies Program manages many student clinical experiences as all students complete nine clinical rotations throughout the United States. A Graduate Assistant position is available to support the clinical education team. The GA will report to Chatham's Eastside location with remote work as needed. Potential responsibilities are as follows:

Duties Specific to Chatham's Clinical team:

  • Perform data entry in EXXAT/PRISM clinical management system
  • Research preceptor licensing and board certification information online, document, and track
  • Print received faxes including student documents and checking documents for required information.
  • Scan various project documents, save, and track as necessary.
  • Prepare mailings to be sent to clinical sites.
  • Set up incoming student folders and file student documents throughout the year.
  • Assist the clinical assistant in tracking submitted student clinical requirements.
  • Maintain timely communication with students, preceptors, and clinical faculty and staff.
  • Maintain Brightspace course site documents and assignments.
  • Enter data into various Excel spreadsheets accurately.
  • Assist the clinical team with the implementation and management of rotations at affiliated clinical sites.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Work closely with Clinical Program Assistant, Bette Weger.
  • Report to the Associate Director of Clinical Education, Brenda Ealey.

Position Description on our website:

This graduate assistant will serve as a point of contact for preceptors and students of Chatham's Physician Assistant program. The assistant will help with coordination of placements for PA students including integration of student and clinical placement data in the various platforms used by the program. This graduate assistant will be selected from the pool of incoming MBA students.

Compensation:

  • The position is a 1-year (12-month) appointment, 20 hours per week at a rate of $15 per hour.
  • The position is paid for through the graduate assistantship budget line that Academic Affairs, the Business Office, and Admissions coordinate. This position is currently listed under the MBA program as MBA positions which benefit the MPAS program.

GA Management:

  • The graduate assistantship is for 1 student, for 1 year term. (The term ends each August and starts each August except when special conditions occur).
    • New students should be identified to take over in Fall for a full year - therefore not leaving the position open mid-year.
  • The positions require the students to be registered a minimum of 6 credits per semester, (preferably full time). We do not guarantee this assistantship for the full duration of their program - especially if they graduate in December. Which is why we deemed it a 1-year cycle with the new students starting each fall. This also was discussed for continuity of service and a full year cycle of consistent help.
  • The PA program will verify timesheets, and the timesheet will be signed off at Chatham by the Program Director of the PA Program.
  • When a student in a GA position plans to leave at the end of the semester, they must notify all parties involved - B&E Dept. rep (TBD) and the Associate Director of Clinical Education of PA Program, at least by mid-semester so that a new candidate can be found to begin the following semester.
  • The GAs will be recruited, selected, and supervised jointly by the MBA and PA program
    • Recruitment is handled through the Business Department.
    • Selection is handled by the Associate Director of Clinical Education - PA Program) and the Program Director of PA program.
    • Supervision will be directly by the Associate Director of Clinical Education of the PA program.
    • Tracking when positions are filled and become available will be handled by the B&E Dept.
    • Notifying Student Accounts and Financial Aid when positions are filled will be handled by the B&E Dept.

All current student employees should notify their other manager(s) if you work multiple jobs on campus at the same time. Additionally, students may not work more than 20 hours per week (combined between all campus jobs) during the academic year. Students may not exceed 980 work hours per calendar year.

Student jobs do not automatically roll over to the next academic year or summer.

Chatham University strives to promote a campus environment that understands and embraces multiculturalism while increasing individuals' intercultural competence. We actively work to build and sustain a diverse and culturally vibrant campus, which promotes employee and student success and retention.
