Job Summary

The overall purpose of this position is to support the E Communications Society's (ComSoc) Membership team.
The incumbent is expected to have strong organizational skills, be able to meet tight deadlines, and work independently. A positive attitude and professional demeanor are critical to this role as there is frequent interaction with volunteers, members, ComSoc office staff and other organizations.
The role reports to the Director of Marketing & Membership, but works closely with the Sr Manager Membership and Programs, and the Membership and Volunteer Operations Specialist.
Specific duties include but are not limited to:

  • Support team leadership in the research and feasibility studies of new membership programs
  • Assist with new and existing program research, logistics, collateral and website development, communications, and budget management
  • Administrative support of day-to-day membership function including producing reports, assistance with member outreach and support
  • Assistance in conference grant notifications, awards processing, and swag orders and inventory management.
  • Other administrative support for membership and marketing as assigned.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:
  • BA Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience working in a membership or professional associations
  • Prior office experience required.

Skills & Other Requirements:
  • Knowledge of Microsoft programs, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Google programs including Gmail and Google Drive, Smartsheet, and virtual meeting platforms including Zoom and WebEx
  • High quality standards, including high degree of accuracy in communications and record keeping.
  • Positive, customer-focused attitude in dealing with a variety of volunteers and members.
  • Excellent English language skills (written and oral) and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, and track and report status of each.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Helpful attitude to anticipate and address administrative issues.
  • Strong-time management skills to balance demands and meet schedules.
  • Cooperative ability to work with other staff to address member issues.
  • Professional demeanor with the ability to handle confidential material.
