Your future role on our team

BBA's Renewable Energy business line wants to strengthen its position in the Hydropower market across Canada. You'll be responsible for developing hydro-related projects and business opportunities. You'll also leverage your expertise in structural engineering, knowledge of the industry, and client relationships to achieve the firm's objectives. Your main goal will be to grow BBA's hydropower and Dam.
An overview of your mandates and responsibilities
Strategic planning

  • Review and update the hydropowerย  and dam safety strategy and action plan
  • Identify target clients toward building a sustainable portfolio, balanced between repeat business and capital expenditure projects
  • Recommend potential strategic resources and organizations that can complement in-house expertise
  • Actively contribute to business development
  • Position the firm for upcoming business opportunities and prepare pursuit and capture strategies
  • Identify any capability gaps and strategic partner or teaming requirements needed to win
  • Serve as client account manager (CAM) for some clients
  • Work with CAMs to ensure a coordinated client management process
  • Cross-sell the services of other disciplines within the firm
  • Track business opportunities using BBA's opportunity database management system
  • Provide exposure to potential new clients and expand relationships with existing clients

Proposals

  • Review RFPs and steer the proposal execution plan and deliverables in the direction needed to win, using elements established in the pursuit strategy
  • Support proposal preparation through creative thinking and alternative approaches
  • Review proposals to ensure that RFP requirements are met (technical and commercial) and that the price is competitive
  • Provide assistance during the proposal and award process and throughout the project life cycle

Operational activities

  • Identify, assess and recommend key hiring competencies specific to the hydropower and dam safety sector to ensure high-quality work, and expand markets
  • Actively participate in executing engineering mandates such as study mandates, detailed design, dam safety reviews, etc
  • Oversee project delivery and serve as a sponsor or Engineer of Record for selected projects
  • Mentor young and future lead engineers within the organization
  • Support succession planning and identify strategic hires who will lead the business
