Chief Engineer
Position Summary
We are seeking a Chief Engineer to lead asset management, capital planning, engineering oversight, quality management, and project development activities for a major transportation infrastructure operation. This role provides technical leadership, supports strategic decision-making, and ensures compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Lead pavement and bridge inspection programs and manage consultant performance.
Forecast maintenance and capital needs using asset condition data and lifecycle analysis.
Scope, develop, and oversee capital improvement and maintenance projects.
Coordinate multidisciplinary design efforts and engineering reviews.
Conduct traffic engineering studies and support roadway safety initiatives.
Manage developer coordination, access permits, utility requests, and project change orders.
Administer document control, quality assurance, compliance audits, and continuous improvement programs.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
Texas Professional Engineer (PE) license.
5+ years of transportation or infrastructure engineering experience.
Experience managing projects exceeding $13 million in construction value.
Knowledge of QA/QC programs and Design-Build project delivery.
Strong analytical, technical writing, and project management skills.
