Job description

About Us:

We are anย AS9100-certified contract manufacturerย delivering advanced machining solutions to theย aerospace and defense industry. Our core competency lies in producing complex, high-precision components with a strong emphasis onย process optimization, repeatability, and efficiency. Unlike high-mix environments, we focus on refining and scaling established part families, driving continuous improvement in machining performance and cost.

Position Summary:

Theย Senior Siemens NX CAM Programmerย will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and standardizing CNC programs forย 3-, 4-, and 5-axis milling operationsย across a range of advanced machine platforms, includingย Grob, Kitamura, Okuma,ย andย Mazak.

This role requires deep expertise inย Siemens NX CAM, strong machining fundamentals, and the ability to makeย data-driven decisionsย related to toolpaths, tooling strategies, and work holding. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in advancing programming methodologies, improving process efficiency, and establishing best practices across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimizeย CNC programs in Siemens NX CAMย for complex components requiring tight tolerances and high surface integrity.
  • Programย 3-axis, 4-axis, and full 5-axis simultaneous milling operationsย across multiple machine platforms (Grob, Kitamura, Okuma, Mazak, Haas).
  • Establish and maintainย programming standards and best practices, including toolpath strategies, naming conventions, and documentation structure.
  • Create comprehensiveย setup documentation, including tool lists, setup sheets, work holding requirements, and process notes to ensure repeatability on the shop floor.
  • Analyze and refine machining processes with a focus onย process stability, cycle time reduction, and tool life optimization.
  • Select and validateย cutting tools, toolpath strategies, and fixturing/work holding approachesย based on material, geometry, and production requirements.
  • Manage, optimize, and verifyย NX Post-Processorsย across all machine platforms.
  • Applyย data-driven methodologiesย to evaluate machining performance and guide continuous improvement efforts.

Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement:

  • Lead initiatives toย optimize existing part families, focusing on incremental gains in efficiency, consistency, and cost reduction.
  • Identify opportunities to implementย advanced toolpath strategiesย (e.g., high-efficiency milling, adaptive clearing, multi-axis finishing techniques).
  • Drive adoption ofย advanced NX CAM capabilities, including parametric programming, feature-based machining, and template-driven workflows.
  • Collaborate with engineering, machinists, and quality teams toย validate and refine machining processes.

Tooling, Libraries, and Systems Development:

  • Support the development and implementation of aย tool management system, including tool tracking, standardization, and lifecycle management.
  • Define and maintainย resident tool librariesย within NX and shop floor systems to ensure consistency and reduce setup variability.
  • Standardize tooling packages across similar part families to improve efficiency and reduce cost.

Automation & Digital Manufacturing:

  • Develop and implementย automation strategies within NX CAM, including templates, reusable operations, and parametric programming approaches.
  • Demonstrate a track record ofย automating repetitive programming tasksย to improve programming efficiency and reduce variability.
  • Support integration of CAM workflows with broaderย digital manufacturing systemsย (MRP, tool management, etc.).

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of CNC programming experience, with a strong focus on multi-axis milling.
  • Advanced expertise inย Siemens NX CAM, including complex multi-axis toolpath generation and post-processing considerations.
  • Proven experience programmingย 3-, 4-, and 5-axis machining centers.
  • Deep understanding of machiningย tight-tolerance aerospace components.
  • Expert understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5)ย and the ability to translate dimensional requirements to a stable and efficient machining process.
  • Extensive experience machining a range of materials, including:
  • High-strength alloysย (e.g., alloy steels, tool steels, nickel-based alloys)
  • Aluminum alloysย (high-speed machining and finishing strategies)
  • Strong knowledge ofย cutting tools, tool coatings, and tool life optimization strategies.
  • Experience developingย setup documentation, tool lists, and standardized processes.
  • Demonstrated ability toย analyze and optimize machining processes using data.
  • Strong understanding ofย workholding and fixturing principlesย for complex geometries.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in anย AS9100 aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity withย Grob 5-axis platformsย and trunnion-style or horizontal 5-axis machining.
  • Experience withย post processor tuningย or close collaboration with post developers.
  • Knowledge ofย high-efficiency machining (HEM)ย and advanced cutting strategies.
  • Experience withย NX CAM automation tools, such as templates, feature-based machining, or custom scripting.

Soft Skills:

  • Strongย ownership mentalityย with a proactive, solution-oriented approach.
  • Highlyย analytical and detail-oriented, with a focus on precision and repeatability.
  • Excellent technical writing skills.
  • Effective communicator, able to collaborate across programming, machining, and engineering teams.
  • Comfortable operating in aย process-driven, continuous improvement environment.
  • Ability to balanceย hands-on programming workย withย strategic process development.

Why Join Us:

  • Work onย high-precision aerospace componentsย using advanced multi-axis machining platforms.
  • Play a key role in shapingย programming standards and manufacturing strategy.
  • Be part of a team focused onย deep process optimization, not just high part turnover.
