About Us
Albany State University is a fully accredited senior unit of the University System of Georgia. Employees receive benefits provided by the University System of Georgia, including, but not limited to, medical and major medical insurance, group life insurance, participation in the Georgia Teachers' Retirement System, Optional Retirement Plan (Faculty and exempt employees only), Social Security and Tuition Assistance Program after six months of employment.
Location
Our West Campus is located at 2400 Gillionville Road, Albany, GA 31707. Our East Campus is located at 504 College Drive, Albany, GA 31705. The Human Resources office for both campuses is located on the West Campus in Building K, Suite 209.
Job Summary
The Velma Fudge Grant Honors Program is seeking dependable, professional, and customer-service-oriented student assistants to support the daily operations of the Honors Program office, student lounge, and computer lab. Student assistants will assist staff with administrative duties, provide excellent customer service to students and visitors, maintain organized workspaces, and contribute to a welcoming and professional environment.
Sponsorship is not available for this position.
Responsibilities
  • Provide courteous customer service to students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors.
  • Greet visitors and assist with general office inquiries.
  • Assist with filing, copying, scanning, data entry, and document preparation.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student and office information.
  • Assist with Honors Program events and special projects.
  • Stock office and lounge supplies as needed.
  • Organize office supplies, inventory, storage areas, and workspaces.
  • Keep the Honors Student Lounge and Computer Lab clean, neat, and organized throughout each shift.
  • Ensure printers remain stocked with paper and report equipment issues promptly.
  • Perform routine cleanliness and organization checks of assigned areas.
  • Assist with assembling packets, mailings, and promotional materials.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Must be currently enrolled at Albany State University.
  • Must maintain satisfactory academic progress.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous office or customer service experience.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Experience working in a higher education environment.
  • Familiarity with office equipment, including printers, scanners, and copiers.
