Job description

Salary Range:    $17.68-$26.92/Hour   FLSA Status: Non Exempt

Essential Functions:

The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Performs administrative and routine duties in support of assigned work unit.

Answers incoming telephone calls; provides information or assistance regarding department services, activities, forms, procedures, or other issues; refers callers to other staff members as appropriate; forwards calls to appropriate personnel; and takes messages.

Performs customer service functions; provides information and assistance regarding unit/division services, activities, procedures, or other issues; distributes documents as requested; researches problems and complaints and initiates problem resolution.

Completes data entry functions by keying data into computer; verifies accuracy of entered data and makes corrections as needed; and utilizes various programs for documents, spreadsheets, databases, and internet use.

Monitors inventory of department supplies; ensures availability of adequate materials to conduct work activities; and initiates requests and orders for new or replacement supplies.

Maintains fleet and various equipment maintenance logs; monitors and tracks preventative maintenance schedules; and coordinates with Fleet Management regarding vehicle/equipment orders and deliveries.

Assists with processing of applications for various permits and takes photographs and fingerprints of permit applicants.

Composes correspondence and prepares responses to requests for information as needed.  

Communicates with supervisors, employees, other departments, vendors, the public and outside agencies as needed to coordinate work activities; review status of work; and exchange information to resolve issues.

Performs other related duties as needed per the assigned unit or department.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required; one year of clerical, administrative support, or customer service experience, preferably in a public safety environment; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Specific License or Certification Required:  Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license.

Supplemental:

The current opportunity is in Fleet division of Police. Duties include:

Vehicle operations and basic vehicle maintenance (i.e., removing batteries, battery charging, tire repair, detailing/washing)

Operation of tools

Lifting and moving Police vehicle equipment

Inventory management

On-Call/Weekend responsibilities 

Must have a valid driver's license
