Job description

The Library is hiring a part-time Public Services Assistant for the George & Hettie Love Memorial Library, formerly known as the Kline Library. This person should have exceptional customer service skills. This position is the first point of contact for everyone entering the library. We are seeking someone who is able to present a welcoming atmosphere and is committed to helping the patrons and members.
The Public Services Assistant manages patron accounts through The Library's online software; helps patrons to locate library materials, provides Reader's Advisory services, and answers basic reference questions.
The Public Services Assistant assists the patrons with basic computer use, including but not limited to signing on to computer, use of the mouse, keyboard, and personal storage devices. This also includes troubleshooting basic computer issues. The Public Services Assistant provides courteous assistance to the public by phone and in person, giving information about library programs and services.
Educational Requirements/Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or General Equivalency Development (GED).
Experience: One year experience working with the public.
Required Skills: Ability to lift 30 lbs. unassisted, to place materials on high and low shelves. Ability to reach and bend to place books on shelves, kneeling and sitting on the floor during programs.
Requires independent transportation for travel to libraries, programs, and outreach locations; must be able to lift 35 lbs.
Schedule: Part-time, 20 hours per week. Tuesday. Wednesday, Thursday, 2:15 PM- 7:15 PM & Saturday 9:15AM-2:15 PM.
