The Planning Coordinator –supports the execution of aircraft maintenance events (e.g., C-checks, D-checks, structural repairs, modifications, storage, reclamations and back shops) by ensuring seamless coordination between Planning, Purchasing, Contracts, Finance, Sales, Tooling, and Inventory departments. This role is critical to maintaining schedule integrity and ensuring all required materials, tooling, and parts are pre-positioned and ready prior to aircraft induction. The ideal candidate brings strong attention to detail, cross-functional communication skills, and a solid understanding of aviation MRO operations.

With the launch of our 777 program and two new hangars, Ascent is experiencing rapid growth. This position is instrumental in achieving our goals and fulfilling our mission of becoming the most trusted aerospace solutions provider in North America.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate end-to-end readiness for maintenance checks, ensuring all, work packages are set up, required materials, consumables, rotables, and tooling are procured, received, and staged before aircraft induction.
  • Support work package set up with finance details, review and support contracts team with documentation and clarification.
  • Work closely with purchasing teams to monitor part orders, expedite critical components, and manage vendor follow-ups for shortages or delays.
  • Collaborate with inventory and stores personnel to track parts availability, confirm part locations, and identify substitutions for backordered items.
  • Partner with tooling teams to verify required GSE and calibrated tools are available, compliant, and allocated to upcoming checks.
  • Maintain and update planning dashboards and systems with real-time material and tooling readiness status.
  • Participate in daily readiness meetings and pre-induction reviews to provide updates on material/tooling gaps and action items.
  • Review aircraft work packages to verify that task cards have associated parts and tooling assigned and escalate discrepancies to planning or engineering.
  • Support post-check reviews by documenting shortages, delays, or planning issues and assisting in root cause analysis and process improvement initiatives.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:  

  • 2–4 years of experience in an aviation MRO environment, ideally with exposure to heavy maintenance planning, materials, or tooling coordination.
  • ·Working knowledge of maintenance planning systems.
  • Understanding of aircraft maintenance programs, work scoping, and aviation parts and tooling nomenclature.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
  • Strong communication skills to work effectively across departments and with external vendors

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in aviation maintenance, Supply Chain, Aerospace Management, or a related field preferred; relevant experience considered in lieu of a degree.

Preferred-

  • Familiarity with FAA or EASA regulations regarding airworthiness, tooling calibration, and parts traceability.
  •  Experience with aircraft induction planning, materials staging, and support of hangar floor operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret aircraft maintenance task cards and IPCs (Illustrated Parts Catalogs).
  • Knowledge of routable and expendable inventory management in aviation.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Occasional squatting, lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 20 pounds.

EQUIPMENT OPERATED: 

  • Telephone, personal computer, multiple printers, copy machine, and shredder.
  • May be required to operate additional office equipment not explicitly listed in this description as needed to perform job duties effectively. 

WORKING CONDITIONS: 

  • Work primarily in the Main Hangar building office with occasional travel to various locations on base.
  • Potential exposure to materials listed on Material Safety Data Sheets.
  • Protective Equipment Required: None

OTHER DUTIES: 

  • May be required to work at both Marana, AZ and Tucson, AZ locations as business needs dictate. 
  • Additional duties may be assigned at the discretion of department management.
