The OPM position is a unique and rewarding position, combining aspects of manufacturing, product engineering, and program management. Qualified candidates who are results driven, problem solvers, good communicators, and work well in a team-oriented environment should apply.


The day-to-day

The Operations Program Manager (OPM) leads cross-functional production program teams and is accountable to the Business Area to ensure timely delivery of products to both external and internal customers.  By providing day-to-day direction to a cross functional team including representatives from New Product Introduction (NPI), test engineering, sourcing, manufacturing, production planning, and quality assurance, the OPM manages all aspects of production program requirements. During the development and prototype phases, the OPM works closely with the cross-functional team and Engineering to ensure the product is manufacturable and all critical processes and suppliers (including Contract Manufacturers) are production ready and all key risk mitigation factors are identified and addressed.  The OPM leads and directs regular core team meetings, attends and reports at program reviews, ensures product line forecasts are translated into a Build Plan, oversees change management, and plans/manages Manufacturing labor forecasting to Program.  The OPM also collaborates with external customers to present updates on Viasat manufacturing and logistics status.

  • 3-5+ years of experience in an Operations/Supply Chain function
  • Ability to drive and monitor continuous improvement by applying Lean Six Sigma tools and initiatives.
  • Ability to lead a complex project with Operations focus from new product development thru fulfillment of mature products
  • Ability to analyze and act to mitigate risk.
  • Ability to implement, track, and manage cost controls to meet negotiated cost reduction objectives.
  • Ability to lead a matrixed, cross-functional team to achieve desired schedule, cost, and quality targets.
  • Excellent organization and communications skills are desired.
  • PC literacy with competency in MS Office, project management, product collaboration SW
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (hardware oriented EE, ME or IE) is required
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time during certain phases of the program lifecycle
  • US Citizenship is required

Salary range
$94,500.00 - $149,000.00 / annually.For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $117,000.00- $176,000.00/ annually
